So, as the OP asked, what would you do?

I would ask politly and respectfully for them to find elsewhere to sit. Whatever happens after that would be up to them.

What time would he reach Chicago?
I may have missed something but I understood that the OP was concerned about damage to his vehicle? If I'm hearing you correctly, you propose shooting holes in the OP's ride to rid it of vermin?

there were 4 males and three females. I was armed with a G26 extended mag with 15rds and a 10 rd. back up mag. also had a pocket .380 with two 6 rd. mags.

I was also aware of the crowd of people and knew a gunfight was a bad idea. I was also aware that if i called the police it would take some time for them show. Usually i can find one in a few seconds, but not this night.

I agree with the advice given however, and should have called police instantly. It is true that i might have backlash from this and would normally think that way but its true in a high stress situation that you lose alot of your abilities. I feel like i acted poorly in this situation and am thankful for all of your insight.

S'okay. This may be the best learnin' forum in the world. Carryin' around a loaded gun is serious business.

Good luck and God Bless.

And that, my friend, shows a teachable attitude. Given the massive frustration of the whole thing, it would be easy to see why you originally reacted the way you did. I might well have done so myself. But the value of this thread is that we all get to check our attitudes at the door and learn from your experience, without having to suffer any painful lessons.

Be safe out there, and I hope that aren't the subject of any revenge actions.

This would have been a great time to have the ability to remote start the vehicle. I have a lot of fun with the remote start on my truck. Now and then I'll set up a friend when we are both standing in front of the truck. I'll say,"Did you hear about how they stole what's his name's truck? He must have left his keys in it because while he was standing there..." and then I'll use the remote to start the truck. It's still funny the 100th time.

I would have called the police. As angry as I would have been with someone damaging my vehicle, it is not worth taking a life over. Moreover, the time and cost in defending yourself, assuming you were found innocent, is no where close to the repair costs/time you would be out. I'll pull my weapon and use it when I feel my/my families life is in danger. I'm aware what the law says about "attempting to commit an offense" but do you really want to live with the fact that you took someones life because you have a dented fender.? If we, as CHL holders start acting irresponsible with our rights, there is no doubt that the law makers will do away with them, and none of us want that. I did not finish the application for law school.

On a more serious note, Mr. Ironsights situation would be most frustrating. There is a group of people on his car, he's got two fully-loaded guns on his person and he can't do anything but call the police. He can't legally shoot them. If he goes up and pushes one of them off his car and the thug falls on the pavement and dies, then he could get convicted of assault like the guy in Salinas, CA. What if he just just went up and asked them to get off his car. They could can complied and left. Or the thugs, could have pulled a gun or knife and then he could have legally shot them. But then he and his friend might be shot by the thugs. :mad5

Edited: convicted of "assault"

I agree with those who suggested calling the police and not confronting the 'drunks' especially with a weapon. My CHL instructor emphasized conflict resolution and de-escalation ... I see no way to resolve a conflict or de-escalate with someone who is drunk (especially if there are more than one of them hanging out together). Being drunk shuts down the cerebral cortex where rational thinking happens. I try to avoid people who have been drinking even more now that I am carrying. In summary, I hope I would have called the police and hidden out till they came.
