Actually the FNAR is based on the Browning BAR Hunting rifle, not the FAL.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Ugly is as ugly does. They guarantee .5 MOA out of the box. As Townsend Whelen said, "Only accurate rifles are interesting."AndyC wrote:That is one ugly rifle - looks like someone added a pistol-grip as an afterthought.
Of course he forgot about M1As and FALs, which might possibly make him a philistine, but accuracy IS interesting.
On the other hand, it takes the annual budget of a 3rd world nation to buy a magazine for the FNAR.... ...if you can find a magazine for it.

If you want something cheap, Academy runs the Stevens 200 in .270 or 7mm for $199.95. Add a $100 scope and you are good to go.
But the old standby is a 30-30 levergun, Winchester or Marlin. The Winnie is lighter and a bit better balanced. Peep sights for older eyes, still at about $300.

The Marlin in .45-70 is a sweet gun too, with a bit more authority for putting down a recalcitrant hog. I think the higher price is worth the money. It's on my shopping list.Rex B wrote:If you want something cheap, Academy runs the Stevens 200 in .270 or 7mm for $199.95. Add a $100 scope and you are good to go.

I was visiting a friend this weekend and we watched the "Pork Police" episode of Razor Dobbs Alive. It looks like this program may only be available on Dish and DirectTV. Too bad, I found it entertaining.MedicMan218 wrote:But how concerned should one be with only having 4 or 5 shots available with slow reloads and having to pull your sights off target to cycle the the next round.....assuming your first shot misses it's mark?WildBill wrote:This is an excellent choice for a rifle for hog hunting.jeeperbryan wrote:What's a good rifle for hog hunting? The last clip on this page shows Razor taking a running hog with multiple shots from a CZ .375 HH Mag.
In contrast, this is an account of Razor being attacked by a big hog and defending with a Glock 10mm.

Re: Rifle for hog hunting
What I saw was 3 shots, the first one on a stationary pig which misses, as second shot on a running pig which misses, and a single hit on the third shot. I don't think those iron sights are going him any favors.davidtx wrote:The last clip on this page shows Razor taking a running hog with multiple shots from a CZ .375 HH Mag.
