My first post
Hello everyone. I have been a member of this forum for a while now. I have been busy reading many posts on here and have found a lot of great information. Thank you to all of those who have posted - there is a wealth of knowledge here.
I have had my CHL for a while now and have recently received my holster of choice - Cross Breed SuperTuck Deluxe for my SR9c. The times that I have worn it, it has been very comfortable. However, I have not taken my first trip out of the house with it - yet. Next week will be my debut carrying (I am almost giddy with excitement. I hope that is normal).
Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone again for the great posts. I have so much more to read, but the posts and threads I have followed have been very worthwhile.
Thanks again.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say..Yes, it's normal.rugerfan wrote:(I am almost giddy with excitement. I hope that is normal).
That SR9c paired with a SuperTuck is a nice choice for concealed carry.

Re: My first post
Welcome aboard.
YMMV, but I've learned a whole lot more about the laws and the responsibilties of a Texas CH licensee from this forum than was ever mentioned, let alone covered, in my CHL class.

Simply out of curiosity, why are you waiting until next week to debut your carry?rugerfan wrote:Hello everyone. I have been a member of this forum for a while now. Re: My first post
I have a day off work next week. What with football season and all, I dont think I can carry to my son's practices since they are held on school grounds. Also this weekend if full of trips to places where I believe CCW are not allowed. This is the part carrying I need to bone up on and KNOW rather than 'think' f or 'believe' carrying is permissible or not.
And go figure this - my wife is more adverse to me carrying, just because I can than anything else. Grrrrrr.

I can't address the wife issue, but I would suggest that you get used to carrying as often as you possibly can. In fact, the more you do the more it MAY alleviate some of your wife's concerns on the subject.rugerfan wrote:I have a day off work next week. In any event, welcome to the forum.

Re: My first post
School football practice is definately a no carry.
You say a lot of trips into no carry zones. If you are not going to:
Vote, racetrack w/ gambling, court house, secure portion of airport, to an execution, prison visit or ministry, bar, or professional sporting event, everything else has to have a 30-06 sign posted.
PM to you.

Re: My first post
Thanks guys! In fact, my plan is to just simply carry and see if she notices. So far I have carried in the house and she has not noticed once. I plan on keeping it that way.
And to that one question - I am heading to an Astros game - so thats why I said i could not carry. I appreciate the advice guys and could not agree more. The more you carry, the more you get comfortable used to 'the gift and the burden'.

Re: My first post
This is how I started. I used this to guage printing with different materials and how I acted myself, knowing I was carrying. After a few weeks I showed her I had it on. I explained in more (as best I could) detail the 'rules' of carry and use. Now she 'checks' for printing if I ask , but just assumes I have a gun and feels safer for it. I feel inclined to mention that I was quick to explain why I didn't tell her up-front I was carrying and knew it would not be an issue. Only you know how your wife will react if she finds out before you say something ;-In fact, my plan is to just simply carry and see if she notices. Re: My first post
Hello CHL Forum!
Alright, I guess it's time to get in on all the fun. Like "rugerfan" I too have been reading for a few months now, but have yet to jump into the fire. So here goes...
I too appreciate having a place to read varied opinions and get different points of view on CHL topics. My instructor taught a great class, but so much to learn after the fact.
Got my plastic in June and been carrying all summer, and must say that when I am not, I feel less comfortable than when I am carrying (even in 102 degree heat). I own several semi's, but the XD40 subcompact is my daily carry gun.
Thanks to all who make this forum possible and I look forward to throwing my hat into the ring from now on... But, with hunting season right around the corner, I will have to split time between here and the Texas Hunting Forum

Jump on in! The water's fine! I spent months on here before I got my license, lurking and learning, then jumped in with both feet. Many good folks in here. Well run forum! Ask any questions you want. Lots of experience to draw from! Enjoy!
