Second Rule of Firearm Safety - Keep finger off trigger
Robber shoots himself at Atlanta's hotel robbery. Forgot rule #2 of firearm safety, keep finger off trigger.

That doesn't make any sense. That is a revolver. How does he accidentally fire a second round at his own head in less than a second?JJVP wrote:Robber shoots himself at Atlanta's hotel robbery. Forgot rule #2 of firearm safety, keep finger off trigger.

Re: Second Rule of Firearm Safety - Keep finger off trigger
That is a very strange video. Obviously taped off of a monitor. I don't see how two shots could have been fired in that scene.
Here's a theory.
The gun went off, shooting the clerk. The gunman let go of the gun, or it jumped out of his hand, hitting him in the head, and stunning him. He goes down. The clerk gets up, turns off the camera, picks up the gun and shoots the robber in the head.
Just a theory, but makes more sense than the current story.

EDIT: Hmm, youtube tag doesn't seem to be working, but here's the URL:

EDIT 2: Safe for Work.
EDIT 3: Thanks Keith! I agree with your comments; I am in no way related to any of the people in the video. I just posted it because it clearly illustrates how even a revolver can double tap...and it just so happens that both bullets in both videos are shot in roughly the same direction...MYTH CONFIRMED!

You have to remove the www from the URL to embed it.PuntoQuatroCinco wrote:Exhibit A:terryg wrote:That doesn't make any sense. That is a revolver. And not to get off topic, but anyone who would do what the guy in this video did and not prepare somone properly to shoot a high powered handgun is a real jerk and needs all their guns taken away.

Excellent example of "limp-wristing"!
But explain how, that bullet managed to hit both the clerk, and the robber.

When you view the video and you get to the part where the gun goes off, pause it. Then click twice on the run button. This will advance the video one frame at a time. You can clearly see the robber's gun hand pointing toward his head. Immediately after that he goes down. If you aren't prepared for a gun going off, when it does and your finger is still on the trigger it can discharge a second time. Whatever it's pointing to is going to get hit. In this case it was his head.

Re: Second Rule of Firearm Safety - Keep finger off trigger
I guess your double-click foo is better than mine. I see nothing but a blur. But the gun does resemble a revolver, which I would think would be MUCH more difficult to get to rapid-fire a second round due to recoil. "Bump fire" is more of a semi-auto kind of thing.

Wow! I thing your exactly right. You can see his hand go up - very much like the girl in the other posted video. I would not have thought that was possible with a DA revolver!baldeagle wrote:When you view the video and you get to the part where the gun goes off, pause it. Then click twice on the run button. Re: Second Rule of Firearm Safety - Keep finger off trigger
Well, here's what I think happened. He had his finger on the trigger, but he had no intention of firing. If you watch the video closely, he reaches down to get something off the counter (money?). Then his left hand comes back up and is covering his gun hand when it goes off. As that is happening, he is turning his head to his left, presumably to look at the customer to his left, also at the counter. Since he wasn't intending to fire, he wasn't prepared for the recoil. So, he fires one shot, which he wasn't expecting, and the recoil drives the gun hand up toward his head. At the same time, he's startled by the gun going off, realizes it's coming up and instinctively grabs it to get control of it, pulling the trigger.terryg wrote:Wow! I thing your exactly right. The rest, as they say, is history.

Re: Second Rule of Firearm Safety - Keep finger off trigger
Downloaded the video and you can see it - blurry but you can see it. Grabbing at giant wad of money with both hands - one hand with the gun in it - trigger gets squeezed BANG! next frame there is a puff of money and you can seethe clerk's body move backwards and now the robber is pointing the gun straight up almost under his own chin and BANG it goes again and his hat flies straight up and his sunglasses fly over and almost hit the other customer in the shoulder face goes red still clutching money in other hand gun travels across the top of the counter toward the other customer as he is now ducking. Gun falls to the desk where it stays. Robber goes to the grave where he belongs.
Would have been better had the first shot missed the clerk.

Good example of what goes around, comes around. Was just faster in this case. Who ever said that the BG's know the rules of gun safety?

Looks like a law suit coming from the BG family.

Do you have some source for that? Or are you just kibitzing? I would be quite interested in who the BG's family would sue, and what their claim would be.beerplug wrote:Looks like a law suit coming from the BG family.
