I finally got out to BP. It was a great Father's Day. Except that my kid hasn't said anything about it yet.
Anyway, this was a great exercise. I didn't do near as well as I thought I would or would have liked to, but it was good. I shot 100 rounds in ten sets. Here's the scores.
2,5,9,2,4,4,7,7,2,6
I brought 200 rounds, but on the last couple targets I started getting extra holes in my paper. There was a guy in the lane next to me with a 9mm and a laser sight that was jumping all over the place. I don't know if it was him or the woman he had with him that was shooting at the time, but I figured it was about time to finish up there anyway.
There were several holes that another millimeter or two would have given another 3-6 points on several of the targets. This was a great exercise that I'll be using more in the future. Thanks again for the links!
There is also apparently a new rule at BP. Before going in we were sharing some of the ridiculous things we've seen or heard of people doing when coming in to shoot at a range. One story I mentioned hearing at a CHL class from the instructor. Afterwards, upon exiting the range today the same guy I was talking with asked if he needed to lock me up. I said, "No", but the guy up front might get a little upset if he didn't. To which, he said, "You have a CHL, right? I said, "Yes Sir" He said to go on and have a nice Father's Day. Cool!

Guessing these are to be printed on standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper?
If you can and it is helpful, try 8.5x14. I did this so when I'm at BassPro it gives me a little more room from where the paper hangs so I'm not shooting at the ceiling further down range.

Wad cutters are a style of bullet that works in revolvers. They are completely flat across the front of the bullet and generally make the clearest holes in paper. For self-loaders, the style is called a semi-wadcutter and the bullet has enough of the conical section left to ensure feeding. It is still cut flat across the nose, just a little further from the case.
