Death stars?!?! I thought Luke Skywalker blew that thing up. If they make that in a conceal carry size I'm in!

I thought they were called "throwing stars" or something like that.

Still wouldn't want to be hit by one, no matter what they're called.

well since CHL means concealed handgun license it seems pretty specific. While it might be handy to carry something like a knife that has blade over 5.5 inches or an ASP baton....I think I would just keep my gun. I wouldnt want to be carrying a baton and get into a situation where I used my gun then have it brought up in court I had a baton also. Because you KNOW some attorney is going to say why didnt you use the baton instead. Who knows. Im just happy I can carry a handgun. I have my ASP baton from when I did LEO work and Ill tell you that thing is not light. Works great on a duty belt but I wouldnt carry one otherwise. I usually carry a folding knife or two on me but those are all legal.

In my work I use some sort of knife on average about every 10 minutes. My personal collection includes four illeagal "automatics". None are very effective

weapons, but three are handy when working in kevlar gloves( the release on the other is hard to find even without gloves).

I would sure like to be able to take them to and from the shop, or use them outside without worrying about getting busted for an illeagal "weapon".

Well, the legal definitions of "deadly" weapon are all out of whack when it comes to carrying knives. The way the law works now, a folding knife of legal dimensions is not considered a deadly weapon, but I assure you that I could easily kill someone — if I weren't fat and old and gimpy — with the perfectly legal folding Kershaw "Blur" I carry daily. If the law's perspective on knives were transferred to guns, you would be able to carry a .22 concealed without a license because it's not as "deadly" as a .45. Of course, that's a preposterous notion. Either can kill you, and for better or for worse, CHL law applies to all calibers if carried concealed. So there is definitely some inconsistency when it comes to what the law describes as "deadly."

I don't claim to know what the answer is, and frankly, unless carrying a pocket knife were outlawed, its not something I give a lot of thought to or care about that much.

I actually own one of these:

I don't even remember for sure where I got it, except that I think I bought it at a gun show 20 years ago or so back in California. I think. I truly don't remember for sure. I had forgotten I had it, but it somehow made the move with me to Texas, and I found it when I was going through some boxes just the other day. I put it back in the box and put it away. Given my physical condition, if I'm close enough to use this thing, I've already lost the fight. That's one of the primary reasons why I have a CHL and carry a gun.

Exactly. Yes I could assassinate some one with a ballpoint pen, but if I am in a fight for my life, I don't expect to have time to dig through my pockets for a knife, sap, brass knuckles, etc., and I don't want my assailant to ever get that close.

I have noticed in my neck of the woods that a good "6 iron" makes an excellent walking stick.

Also seems like just today some guy stabbed another guy in the eye (at a convention of comics and or sci/fi buffs) with a ball point pen and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. So, apparantly spelling mistakes aren't the only infractions caused by ball point pens.

No, but it's a great fit for a frame pump clip on a bicycle.

For evening neighborhood walks, I made a staff from a relatively thick hoe handle, which seemed the correct length. I bored a 1/2" hole in the bottom end, about 10" deep. I then cut the head off a half inch steel bolt. Applied exoxy, drove it in.

You can shoo small dogs away easily without hurting them, but you have an effective heavy and strong weapon if put upon by something larger and more agressive.

Yes, the LCP is in the pocket if necessary.

I would love to carry a Large fixed blade knife under my CHL but I can't according to what I read.
