Back from class
Wow, what a great experience. Nothing at all like the previous classes. The Georgetown Chamber facility is like brand new. Cool and comfortable, and very spacious. We had padded comfortable chairs and real tables to sit at with real cool air conditioning (that works great). The DPS crew were the greatest. On the final test, our class had a grade average of 98%. The area around the Chamber is very safe, plenty of parking, and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. I stayed at the LaQuenta as did the majority of the class. The accomodations were clean, and the area very safe. I left my gun bag in the closet and the cleaning crew never went near it. Take a pillow from home, the pillows there suck, beds are comfortable, TV is OK, not too many channels to choose from. George town is a very beautiful city and very well kept. Make sure you bring your ammo, Wally World doesn't have any and neither does Academy. Make sure the ammo you bring is on the approved ammo list, nothing else will be allowed PERIOD. The range is state of the art, plenty of room and very well kept. It is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel. There is an indoor range not too far from the hotel, I didn't go there but a few of the class did and they said it was a fine facility. The LaQuenta is on the west side of I35 and the Chamber is on the East side of I35. It takes about 5 minutes to drive there, everything is very close. The Jily 19 class will be happy DPS changed the site and so is DPS.

Re: Back from class
Thanks for the update Rick. I'm really excited about the July 19 class.
Which indoor range? Red's in Pflugerville? If there is one closer to Georgetown that is (good) news to me.
Georegtown is a great community. Has that small-town feel with the old courthouse square etc., but is still a good size town and close enough to Austin for those who need big city amenities.

No indoor range in or close by here in Gtown. Closest one is Red's in Pflugerville. Good Luck austinrealtor on the class. I was thinking you were in this week's class.

Re: Back from class
Yep, overall it was a great week.
Good locaton, good instructors, motel was good. Pillows were ok if you used two or three of them.
The next class will be happy with the location.

Just remember shot placement is much more important with what you shoot than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Texasjeep obviously you know my opinion of the two women on Tuesday, but other than that I have to completely agree with you. It was an incredible week, the Troopers in did a fantastic job. I was very impressed and glad I attended.

Re: Back from class
Rick apparently we took the class the same week and I have to agree the Georgetown location was very nice. Instructors very good and the class very informative. I guess we were the lucky ones not to be at the St Micheal Plaza location after the reports we got from class.
