Re: Bullet Puller Frustration
There is another handy way to pull bullets which you may consider...

I had one of these set up in a single stage press on my bench, while reloading on a progressive. If I found the need to pull a bullet (usually during set-up of caliber change over), it was very convenient to pop it in the single stage press and pull it, no hammering on anything, and much quicker and quieter than the "kinetic" style pullers.

That looks pretty awesome. I may have to pick one of those up!
I have nearly a box of 9mm that are loaded too hot that have just been sitting there because I didn't want to spend forever bonking them all out.

I have this one:

I prefer it over the kinetic type, though I keep it around in case I don't have a collet to work with a specific bullet shape/size.

The best surface I've found for it is 1/4" plywood or MDF (or thinner if you have it available - wood laminates work well) over concrete.lkd wrote:Ah, got it working...apparently, this bullet puller prefers bathroom tile and about 4 hard strikes

Re: Bullet Puller Frustration
I use the Hornady collet puller for jacketed bullets. For lead or small batch, I use the kinetic hammer type on a 2x4 end.
When all is said and done, there is a lot more said than done.
