There's also a lower speed event happening Saturday, June 19, at the HPD Academy facility. Also put on by PCA. Lower cost, lower speed, and in particular targeting teenagers. Adults are welcome too, but we'd really like to get 16-18 years olds (who are at high risk of fatal accidents) out there for some solid training behind the wheel. No helmets required for this one. We do 8 different exercises over the course of the day. There's about a 1 hour lecture at the beginning, and you'll have an instructor in-car with you all the time. No helmets required for this one.

Yeah - I wasn't really offended by the earlier comments - I understand that getting a ticket sucks...

I've been making upward of 8-10 stops a night (if calls for svc are minimal) and I only write like 2-3 tix per night. Most of my tickets are unrelated to the original reason for stop - suspended DL, No Insurance...those will get hammered every time. Stickers if they are way out of date will get cited. Flagrantly blowing a stop sign when people are walking in the area will get you paper.

I try to be reasonable in discretion and do what I feel the majority of the neighboring citizens would appreciate.

I've been rear ended by someone with no insurance so I will write that every time. I am of the opinion that I can be polite and courteous even in the akward instance of citing them for a traffic violation. I've had people thank me at the end of a contact even when they got a ticket.

I love that attitude, I generally don't drive unsafely. Now I promise I do get pulled over more often than most people on the board, but it's almost always a speeding while nobody is around, but I usually always give a thank you have a good night officer afterwards, unless they're jerks, which I've only had one.

That time I was pulling up to basically a T interesection and had a stop sign, I saw a car with it's blinker on and wanted to get out in front of it before it got too close so I rolled through the stop, turned out to be a cop and he lit me up, as soon as I said I saw your blinker and before I could get anything else out I got a really fast quip " I didn't have my blinker on." Though I didn't get a ticker just a warning.

Now the other times the officers were really nice, especially the one who pulled me over for 80 in a 40 (though I know I hit 90). He just gave me a warning and told me to take it to the track. I don't speed that much over anymore.

Anyways I do deserve some tickets, and I have gotten one that I think was horse-cockey, but it is what it is. Thanks for making traffic stops not painful. (Though really, the super bright light in my eyes at night? I already get killed by SUV's because my car rides low)

Gigag04, Z-06's are very fast cars. A friend has one, not stock anymore but even when it was it was capable of about 200 mph. I was in it going 190 once and I don't care to do it again. If you get one just go ahead and write yourself a ticket. Also you better start a tire fund, they're expensive and they don't last long.

It would most likely be primarily a track car. Circle or straight.

And if I did the same? Pulled out my 3 million candle power spot light and put it on my back windshield? I bet I'd get arrested wouldn't I? I'm just saying it might be better for y'all but it turns me into a jerk and it'd do the same to you if I shined you like that.

Except that you've been pulled over and he's just doing his job. If it makes him safer and lets him go home to his family at night maybe you should suck it up. A little light won't hurt you.

I don't know you if I'm pulling you over. You could be a 65 yo grandma or you could be the chainsaw killer that just stole away a 6 year old girl...It's not personal. If you shined a light on me, I'm not sure what exactly you could be charged with but it would definitely make your traffic stop more interesting.

If you shined a light on me, I'm not sure what exactly you could be charged with but it would definitely make your traffic stop more interesting.

I was taking my husband some food one night, around midnight, and an officer pulled into the lot behind me, blocked my car, and shone his spotlight on the car. I had no idea what was up but rolled down my window and asked if there was a problem. It was apparent by the look on his face that I was not what he expected to see.

Evidently the strip where my hubby works had been recently hit by people coming in the middle of the night and stealing computers. The cop had been staking it out and, of course, it IS odd to see a vehicle pull in at that late hour since every other company on the strip closes at 9pm. I explained that my hubby works at the EMS company there and held up the food I was bringing him. The cop never asked me for ID but also didn't turn off the spotlight until he was back in his car.

I had no problem because, though the light was blinding, I knew he was being cautious and wanted an eye on everything. I wasn't doing anything wrong, but that doesn't mean he knows that when he pulls up behind you.

I totally back you on the lights, gigag04. Seriously, guys, if the light bothers you, just shield your eyes. If it makes things easier for the officer, I'm all for it. These guys put their lives on the line every shift. I've heard traffic stops are the worst for cops, so I can understand a desire to have things lit up in an attempt to avoid a bad situation.

Haha I'm not being combative, I think I may have come off as that. I can't shield them as I'm getting my IDs out and insurance, I can't turn because it's still coming in from my side view mirror still lets it straight into my eyes. I'm just wishing that I had a good guy bumper sticker so I didn't get blinded at 3 a.m. for a DUI search. Maybe amber lights instead of white, or a soft blue glow, maybe set up some side lights too, better lighting over the whole scene reducing accidents!

Or maybe I should just get pulled over during the day.

And for the record I've only gotten pulled over 4 or so times, which isn't a lot considering I drive a red sports car, I'm pretty proud of myself! Haha (Though one was in a rental that I swear my mother would drive if she bought a new car)

The times that I've been pulled over at night and have been "lit up" with the LEO's vehicle spotlight shining on my side mirror - it's really simple, adjust the mirror.
