They are a national sponsor for St. Judes Children's Research Hospital as well, and I would hate to stop that charity from them. Of course, I will still do my part with St. Jude's in our annual event that raises about $45,000 each Columbus Day Weekend.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. My son is a St. Jude patient.

Ever been to SJCRH? The new Chili's facility is awesome.

So what do we do? I'm sure it's not a Chili's policy or they would all be posted. I guess we just avoid the ones that are posted.

Yes i spoke with the manager by phone . I even mentioned that other CHili branches have no signs and he insisted (by a strong voice) they have a policy as such. ANyway, that is it. If my family gets to go back ill take a pic of the sign.

Damn, thats the one i ve seen. So , is that a phony .3006 sign. I havent really known how a real .3006 sign says as long it has 1 inch lettering.

But , is this the legal format sign for 3006 ?

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/ftp/forms/cr-1.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If so , that manager lied to me that they have the .3006. But again , if he has given me verbal notice then its his prerogative and we have to abide by his. I guess some Chili managers are given carte blanche to post those phony signs legal or not legal.

If you notice it does not say 30.06 anywhere on the sign. It also says "unlicensed" pocession. Do you have a CHL? If so then you are officially licensed.

A 30.06 sign must read as follows...
"PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF A LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN) A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (CONCEALED HANDGUN LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN."

"CONFORME A LA SECCIÓN 30.06 DEL CÔDIGO PENAL (TRASPASAR PORTANDO ARMAS DE FUEGO) PERSONAS CON LICENCIA BAJO DEL SUB-CAPITULO H, CAPITULO 411, CODIGO DE GOBIERNO (LEY DE PORTAR ARMAS), NO DEBEN ENTRAR A ESTA PROPIEDAD PORTANDO UN ARMA DE FUEGO."

Also, since it is not a 30.06 sign please do not call and inform the manager or anyone else for that matter as they may change it and post the proper sign...let sleeping dogs lie.

If that's the sign no worries then. Tons of establishments have those. The Buffalo Wild Wings here in Victoria has a sign that says, "BWW bans all guns on its' premises." I'll post a pic of it soon. It makes me laugh. In fact, I made it a point to carry in there right after getting my license. Even took a pic of me standing in front of it. The manager came out and looked around while I was having my pic taken. I wouldn't say anything, just in case they get wise and figure out what the legal requirement is for actually banning guns.

Your first clue that it is a 30.06 sign is that it says: 30.06 (If you have a concealed gun, you CAN'T come in.) :leaving

That sign is required to be posted anywhere that sells alcohol and is NOT a 51% location. The 30.06 sign can still be posted to restrict CHLs from carrying, but are not required if it is a location specifically listed as off limits. Verbal notice is also valid, so if you carry there now, you are committing a Class A misdemeanor. A valid 30.06 sign looks like this (huge):

My interaction was with Bill Heine, then Director of Security for Chili's.

That was in June 2003. I was trying to get a definitive answer on Chili's policy.

That came about because I hadn't eaten at Chili's for 7 years because Chili's DID post in 1996 in the pre-30.06 days. Back then there were a lot of knee-jerk postings as everyone believed the 'blood in the streets' hype.

I never knew when Chili's changed their policy, since I never ate there.

But by 2003, Mr. Heine assured me that Chili's did not post against CHL and that the only proper sign should be the 'unlicensed possession' one.

I have found that to be true in every Chili's I have eaten in since.
In short, pre-30.06, Chili's did put up generic no guns sign. However, they NEVER posted 30.06.

To get my business back, Mr. Heine sent me ten $10 gift certicates to use at Chili's.

Chili's is not a business we have to worry about.
