Houston-area LEO's don't all deserve a bad rap...

For the first time in ages I was pulled over Saturday night for going very fast in my very fast car (09 Challenger SRT8). I haven't been pulled over for a very very long time.
Anyway, I was thinking to myself as I tried to find my insurance papers that I really really did deserve to be stopped. I turned on my interior lights, rolled my window down and started digging through my glove-box.
This young clean-cut Constable walks up to my window and says, "You don't need your license or your insurance papers, just slow down please".
I think I said "Yes Sir" or something equally thoughtful and inspiring, and he walked off.
I am counting my blessings and slowing down.
Really.

I think that sometimes a friendly warning can be more influential than a costly ticket because
it leaves you with a greater respect for the officers professionalism.

Just don't mistake his kindness for weakness because if he stops you again and remembers you....well.

I am a bit surprised that he didn't at least run your license though.

I don't normally hot-rod in any of my cars. So I took his quite gracious request to heart, and will try not to get excited on those rare occasions when I shouldn't.
Besides, if I am driving fast all of the hot babes out there cannot get a good look at me. If I slow down, they can. I have to assume that is a good thing.

In regards to pics, I am not sure how to link the pics that I have on my desktop to this forum (especially since it is on my work desktop). If any one has some quick pointers on how to do it (.jpg image), please feel free to pass them my way and I will share.

Come to think of it, I thought I had posted them previously. I will have to check.

BEAUTIFUL CAR!!!!! Just so you know, i think its more dangerous for you to drive by me in one of those, then for me to text and drive. I dang near snap my neck trying to get a good look at those amazing cars.

How are not writing the OP a ticket and showing professionalism correlated? I understand that nobody likes getting tickets...but I don't see how either outcome would be related to officer's professionalism as long as he/she is fair and consistent in his citing for violations. (loaded issue...)


Back on topic - I like the challengers for sure. Have you dyno'd it yet?

I've caught corvette fever recently - and while I 'd love a C6 Z06...I'd rather have a house and wife in the next year. And not be in debt up to my eyeballs.

Probably because the OP pulled over immediately, the LEO decided to just ask him to slow down and didn't give him a hard time about driving so quickly in his fast car. The LEO behaved professionally by not making it into a big deal. The not getting a ticket thing is just icing on the cake.


I've never gotten a ticket (but I sure deserved one the one time I've been pulled over) and I hope I never will!

I have the greatest respect for all Law Enforcement Officers, Fire Fighters, and Military Service men and women.

Perhaps my comment should have been worded differently.
The intent was meant only as a compliment to the officer and was not meant to allude to anything else.

I won't try to read USA1's mind, but I interpreted "professionalism" in this case to mean the officer showed goodwill towards the OP. He had every right to issue a ticket for a violation, but chose not to for whatever reason. Right or wrong, that gives me a greater respect for the officer.

You are correct though, had he issued a ticket to him, wouldn't make him any less professional.
