My wife and I took our CHL class together.
Her application packet is sitting on our bar at our house. She just hasn't taken the time to double check it, sign it and mail it.

We did go to our PSC orientation on Monday evening and she said she may want to go to the Ladies day event this Saturday at PSC (the first Saturday of every month and you do not need to be a member to go) - hint hint if you can get your wife to go hang out with a bunch of other woman, shooting and bonding. My hope is my wife will at least enjoy it enough to want to go shooting once in a while.

That was exactly my first thought after reading this forum from work earlier today and reading that Quahog and Teamless had received theirs in the mail today. Sure enough, it was waiting for me when I got home from work. :cheers2:

Hearty congrats to all the Class of March 2010 who have received their plastic and a warm "Hang in there" to those still waiting. Each day that goes by is one day closer to receiving your CHL. :tiphat:

I am going to be joining PSC as it is close and much nicer than my local range.

Hopefully I can convince the wife to do a "ladies night". She is just really un-motivated to do anything that involves her gun.

No plastic when I checked my mailbox yesterday. :totap:
I have to work late this evening and probably wont get home before 8:00 p.m. so when I check the mailbox this evening I am pretty sure it will be there.

The good thing is even if it does not get to me today I know for sure it is coming as I am in the ranks of the approved. :cheers2:
Who else is left without plastic of the March class??

My wife was with me at all 3 locations, but when i asked her (very privately) to watch me once in a while she was like, whatever. I am sure she did, every so often, but did not say a word. I did catch myself a couple of times, getting ready to check and said to myself to leave it alone, its OK. and it was.
I wasn't nervous at all, surprisingly, but that has to do with everyone's responses on the many many threads that I have read, commented on or started. This forum is a HUGE Wealth of knowledge and experience. It really helps!

I did, when trying to get my wallet out, catch my finger on the Crossbreeds clip on my belt, and thought it was my magazine sticking out, so felt it and realized what it was.

All in all, a great (un)Wally-Walk!

Thanks Everyone!! :anamatedbanana :patriot: :txflag: :tiphat:
Sounds like a great success to me. Way to go, Teamless.

Just wondering, do you keep your wallet in your right back pocket? I keep mine in the left and it keeps you away from the gun area all together. I've also seen a number of folks on here reporting they keep theirs in their front pocket to make it more accessible and secure. Perhaps it's worth thinking about.

Once we get the ladies used to us carrying, we could possibly get them into the next CFL class. I think if the women get together, they might actually go through with it. The wife has her own gun but needs more estrogen encourgament!!!
Check out the Women's Program at PSC. I don't think you have to be a member to participate. PM me for more info and an email address to get more info.

Date: Saturday, May 1, 2010
Start Time: 8:45 am End Time: 12:00 pm

Whoops! I hadn't seen Teamless' posts on the Womens Program before I posted this. One word of advice... if she doesn't already have a gun, have her use one of the loaner 22s that PSC has. You wouldn't want her to start off with something that scares her needlessly.
Any code word ideas for a 5 and 9 year old for the CC firearm?

Yes, in the right/back pocket.
40 years of habit to break there.
But with the holster at about 3:30 or so, I can reach back, pull it out and it does not seem that it is in the way of the weapon at all. Only the belt clip on the Crossbreed, so I think that is just something to realize and get used to, and like anything else, muscle memory, over time in how to get the wallet out without hitting it.

I've tried the back/left, but it feels totally foreign to me, even my butt-cheek says "Hey, what the heck is that!"

Wally Walk Report

I donned the Hawaiian shirt over my regular T-shirt and the wife and I went to Wally World for some food items. Walking in the front door, I felt like everyone in the place was staring at me. A very odd feeling indeed since I go there just about everyday and no one seems to notice! LOL :

Anyway, that lasted for all of about 5 mins before I was completely satisfied and comfortable that no one was really paying any attention to me. We walked most of the store picking up a few things, checking out, etc. and it was a non-issue. When I got out into the parking lot, I took off my Hawaiian shirt, folded it and put in on the cart. I think that probably drew more attention imagining that folks probably thought I stole the shirt. Hehe

After that, we went to Subway for lunch, U-Haul to get our propane tanks refilled, and then home. The only time I think the grip might have printed against my shirt was when I leaned over the trunk to arrange the propane bottles but the young man helping didn't seem to pay it any mind so I think it was just me.

Wife insists it's all in my head because she couldn't tell and she was confident no one else could either.

Well boys and girls I have some good news and some no news. My wife and I both took the class and submitted papers as shown in my sig. Overnight her status went to approved while mine is still processing. She was born in Texas and has lived here her entire life while I am a transplant so I suspected hers might clear more quickly than mine. Her application took exactly one month, was received on 03-29-2010 and approved 04-29-2010 which seems to be on the quick side of what I have been seeing. Now the wait for mine to clear and plastic to arrive for both of us.
Paper work received: 03/29/10
Plastic in hand:
WIFE'S: 05/01/10 (31 days)
MINE: 05/10/10 (42 days)

I was born in PA, and mine was approved at 29 days from DPS receipt, so I do not think it matters, unless you mean you are a transplant from another country, rather than state.

Congrats to you and your wife! I'm still waiting on approval. I still show as processing on the website, but maybe I'm already complete and the site hasn't updated yet. :confused5

It is painful to see everyone else with 3/29 dates showing approved and mine not updating, but I'll survive. I wore my Crossbreed holster and gun belt to work today (no gun, of course) so that I can continue to get used to the feel of it and breaking it in.

Teamless, you may want to try putting your wallet in your front pocket. I did that 10 years ago during a trip overseas and I've never gone back. It is easier for me to get to and my butt has been much friendlier to me ever since then!

As soon as a go to the next size of jeans, so there is more room in the front pockets, I will try that.
it just seems so foreign to me. What do you do with your keys, cell phone and any other stuff in the pocket? LOL
