I think it violates one of the Federal laws infringing on the right to keep and bear arms.

So I cant carry while fishing from my boat on the lake, but I can carry while deer, squirrel, rabbit , etc.... hunting on land around the lake? That is kinda goofy!

Yes it is kind of goofy. The way I see they interpret it is you are engaged in a sport where you are using a firearm when hunting. When fishing, you are not, so hence the guidelines. You can also carry onto COE land if you are going to a shooting range or other sporting activity involving a gun. Weird, but hey, it's the Gooberment. :headscratch

Hopefully in the near future they will look at the National Park carry legislation that went into affect this year and change the rules to allow CHL's to carry on COE land. :thumbs2:

This train must be on a closed loop track, because it keeps arriving at the station.

I know right?
COE does not care about the Texas Motorist Protection Act, it's illegal to have a loaded concealed hangun in your car in the Corps of Engineers parks/lakes parking lots in Texas. Like they told me .... the parking lot is our property, it's illegal on our property..... I guess you can carry up to the gate, pitch your gun in the woods and pick it up on the way out, but I'd exercise caution telling a park ranger anything about having a CHL, which would lead him to ask 1) if you are armed and if not 2) did you leave it in your car......

Just carry a speargun, typically used for fishing for carp non-gamefish etc.

Advice I've gotten is best bang for your buck for fishing is a JBL D-8, you can get one for right about $100, or pneumatic ones up to $600.00 ... which I'm considering, since the ones with rubber bands are stronger/better velocity/range only if they are longer.
Trying to find a holster so I don't spear my foot .... :biggrinjester:

Your post should be be clearer as to what you mean by "carry" - long guns while hunting, or a handgun with a long gun. So at the risk of continuing to beat a dead horse - if the lands around the lake, or the wildlife management area no where near the lake, is owned by the Corps, then you are not legally allowed to carry prohibited weapons.

I bought a flare gun to keep with my jetski.
In case I get stranded on the water, of course.
