Re: April 2010 applications
Well, that was quick!
Wife's packet hand-delivered to DPS 4/12/10
Check cashed 4/13/10
It took them 3 weeks just to get my check cashed back in February of last year! Looks like things are looking up. Could her PIN be far behind?

Re: April 2010 applications
First post here! Been lurking for a while.
Mailed everything Monday, DPS received it Tuesday (according to USPS Certified mail), and as of Friday evening website still shows "Packet Mailed to Applicant" .
I completed the on-line application previously and received my PIN with the packet. Any idea how long it can take to show "Processing" in this situation?
Thanks,
Ron

Re: April 2010 applications
My situation was the same as yours -- applied online, PIN rcvd, etc. Took about 14 days for the status to change from "Packet mailed to applicant" to "Processing application".rnschltz wrote:First post here! Been lurking for a while.

Re: April 2010 applications
So I told myself no problem, this wait will not kill me know matter how long it takes. I was wrong Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since they have received my packet, I have not got my PIN yet, and knowing they will be stopping all background checks next week puts it back even more.

Ah, now - don't get so down! Just think - there is almost absolutely no way possible that yours could take near as long as those of us from 9-18 months ago. Back then, packet arrival to PIN receipt was measured at the glacial pace of months, sometimes. I was assured last week, however, (when I dropped off my wife's packet) that they are quickly cramming as many apps through background and fingerprinting as they possibly can, to not be behind when the FBI shuts down.clbryant1981 wrote:So I told myself no problem, this wait will not kill me know matter how long it takes. Now get off my lawn, you new kids!

I know, but it's like the year you finally learn there is no Santa, there is 4 weeks till Christmas and that present you've wanted for a while is sitting in your parents room, but you can't touch it for four weeks.

Re: April 2010 applications
DPS is not stopping background checks. FBI is stopping fingerprint processing/background checks.clbryant1981 wrote:So I told myself no problem, this wait will not kill me know matter how long it takes. Two entirely separate processes. The DPS background check is independent of the FBI background check, as I understand the system.
