CHLs not welcome at Lone Star Tea Party!

#1

Post by aceat64 »

I went to the Lone Star Tea Party with my mom and dad, but since we're all CHL holders we left as soon as we saw this:
Image

That's right, it is a valid 30.06 sign held on by zip ties. It looks like it was posted yesterday, I can't find the sign in any of the pictures posted on their website. Oh and to top it off, I'm fairly certain the park is owned by Grand Prairie, which means they can't legally post that sign anyway!

ETA: Changed the link to make it work

Hmmmm....I just got back from there, and I didn't see any sign. Wish I could look at what he was talking about. Where was it?

And if it was a valid sign, the only thing I have to say is:  and :eek6

I was there too. I walked in the main entrance, waved to the friendly PoPo standing by the front gate, but I did not see
this or any other sign regarding concealed carry. Maybe you got there earlier than I did because in the picture it looks like
the gates are closed. When I got there the gates were wide open.

It was near the right side of what I think was the south entrance. I believe we got there around 6:40pm.

I'm not saying it wasn't there. I'm saying I didn't see it and neither did the guys that were with me.
Had I been forced to walk (a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG way) back to my vehicle to secure my weapon, I would
have just left. However, I enjoyed most of the speakers, the home made signs, the flags, the fact that many
brought their kids and families. Very polite crowd.
Sorry you didn't make the TEA Party, but I certainly understand the reason you left.

Looked it up... it is indeed owned by the City of Grand Prairie, so the sign was invalid to start with. Just don't carry during a sporting event held at the park, and there's nothing else to fret. Incidentally, I hate it when government employees read enough of the law to get the true text of a 30.06 sign and then completely ignore the fact that public property can't be posted with it :banghead:

There was quite a few people inside the event when the photo was taken. Perhaps this was the result of a third party looking to cause trouble by hanging a sign on their own? A few years ago I had a person come in and try to hang a gun busters sign that where I work telling me that there were making us safer... The sign was not authorized to be hung but our customers would not have know that.

I was there and didn't see any signs restricting CHLers. I arrived at 5:30 PM. I had a great time.

I got there at about 6:30 and didn't see any such signs. I went in the main entrance behind home plate. If it was posted and I just didn't see it,then.... oops?

I don't think that is accurate unless it is "High School, collegiate, interscholastic, or professional sporting events. TPC $46.035(b)(2)." which is unlikely on city grounds.

The AirHogs play there. They are a professional sports team (minor league baseball.) Also, there are many times a high school will use a professional sports venue for playoff games so one team doesn't have a home field advantage over the other, as well as more seating available.

Also, noticed this is your first post. Welcome to the forum. :tiphat:

Work demands prevented me from attending however several friends went to the Sam Houston Raceway Tea Party in Houston, which was held outside. Not a 30.06 sign to be seen. :txflag:

30.06 signs are not required at horse race tracks. Off limits to us, even if there's no horses there.

, on these lines, I dont know if I should start a new thread, or continue this one

At the Pasadena Convention Center, a City owned venue, during the gun show (this weekend and every 4th weekend or so), they bring a sign in, place it on the table when you first walk in the door, before you give them your ticket.
A LEO is there to secure any weapons with zip ties so you can carry (openly) around the gun show, but they also verbally tell ask you if you have any CCW and if so, to un-conceal them.

This is a city owned venue, as stated above, but during events such as the gun show (or Tea Party) is it actually legal to post the 30.06 sign? and Enforce it?
