Took my class on 3/18, got my DPS PIN on Friday (4/2). Hopefully that card will be in the mail within a week or so.
I'm going to carry my SR9c in a Kholster I just ordered. I already carried on private property this weekend while fishing just to get used to it using a cheapo Uncle Mike's IWB holster (which sucks, IMO). I will be carrying locked and loaded right out of the gate - I trust my finger to stay out of the trigger guard, and I've got a thumb safety to back me up.
From reading a few other posts, I guess I am supposed to go carry in WalMart once I am official?

Welcome to the forum HuttoAg96
Sounds like you're off to a good start so far.
About the Wally Walk...Yes, it's required by the State. Didn't you read the fine print on the application.
We look forward to your future posts.

Welcome to the forum, HuttoAg96... but I have to say, if you get yours in a week, I am going to be upset!

The DPS website said they are running at about 21 days right now. Maybe you got hung up on a background check or something?

Been to a few others but none are as informative, entertaining, and friendly as TexasCHLforum.
Maybe it has something to do with the "Texas" part..

Welcome HuttoAg96
Can I deduce that you live in/near Hutto and are an Aggie from '96? My wife is an Aggie '97 and I do some shooting occasionally at some family land in Hutto area (near Frame Switch actually, close to Blackland Guns).
Anyway, welcome aboard.

welcome hutto...
Re: New member here
austinrealtor, yes, that's correct. My wife is c/o 98. At first I thought you might be another Aggie realtor that I know, but he's class of 80-something. we're kind of halfway between pflugerville and hutto out in the country.
