Recoil is not that bad with .38's. When I was at my ranch last weekend I shot easily 50 rounds of .38's after 300+ of 9mm and 45 and it was not a problem. The only problem was when I got ballsy and shot the .357 hydrashocks out of them. After one cylinder my hand was stinging.

Right now I am pocket carrying with an Uncle Mike's IWB holster. I am waiting on a high noon tuckable to come in.
Nice gun, I keep wanting to buy the M&P 340. But like you I'm having a hard time justifying the price. The main appeal to me is the .357 capability, but if follow up shots are too hard to get back on target it kinda defeats the purpose.

Stainless or black? Whered you buy? Reason I ask is because I bought black with std. sights and it was super hard to find at that! Gun shows, 8 local stores, and found it at Military Gun Supply who told me they had none!Night sights are going on Friday so I'm not sweating it much anymore, but just curious! Hope you are as happy with yours as I am mine! :thumbs2:

The price was a factor in my decision. A 442 is half the price basically of a 340pd, but the 340pd shoots a .357 and the 442 only shoots a .38. What I concluded was that you were buying two guns in one with the 340pd. As for follow up shots, one shot of .357 from this hand cannon will scare anybody away, it has the loudest bark I have ever heard, at least pistol wise. But I am debating on buying 38+p ammo to carry instead of .357.

I also reason with myself is that if I have to use my 340, I like to know I have .357 coming out of the barrel. And with the adrenaline that would come with the situation, I would not worry about follow up shots since you can control the recoil under normal conditions.

I agree with you except the part about it being anything like a Glock except for action type! I can't even begin to reach a Glock trigger and the ergonomics on a Glock feels like holding a rectangular piece of plastic with no sculpting for grip. You hit the nail on the head as far as the trigger goes. It is about the same poundage as a Glock but it is smoother and the break is crisper.

The M&P45 is a great gun!
I am totally with you on the Glock feel. My brother owns several and is a Glock guy, although he does have an M&P and and XD. I'm the 1911 freak in the family. :smilelol5: He is also a 40S&W guy as every one of his are 40s. Makes it easy not to mix ammo as well. I am debating on a 40 or 9mm, but looking for something my wife might enjoy shooting as well. Seriously considering the HK P30 in .40 as one we can both shoot. She loves her Walther PPK/S in .380 though.

Nice. Still eyeing one up myself.

I've also been looking at the Beretta Px4 SC in 9mm. It's a little pig of a gun but I like it.

The last gun I bought was a Ruger LCR with the CT laser grips.

The last gun I acquired I traded for. It is also a Ruger, a 22/45 Mark III to be precise.

Can't figure out how to "show" with pictures, but I got my wife and our last daughter to the range for their first time a couple of weeks ago. I had purchased my wife a Browning Buckmark Camper to in blue and they took turns. Had to buy my daughter another "Camper" (in stainless) so the wouldn't fight over who gets to shoot. Just kidding! - About the fighting not the purchase. Both have taken an immense liking to shooting. To keep up the pace I bought myself a Charles Daly 1911 and Hi Power. Haven't shot the Hi Power yet. So I guess that would qualify as my "latest"

Can't SHOW but last week was my birthday and and wife asked what I wanted. Said gun. She said OK. Bought Glock 27. It worked out pretty good. I had a $75 discount card from Cabela's and had $55 in Cabela points. So I got it for around $500 and it has night sites. I like the 27 so much that this is my second one. Actually the first one is back at Glock getting fixed (not mechanical) so this was a good excuse to get a second one.
