Yep, there is a reason: Glock is willing to sale their guns to LEOs at a VERY low price. Glocks are a very reliable gun but they aren't any better than any other reliable gun. LEOs don't always have the best equipment (which is a real shame) and they aren't firearm experts just because they have a badge. It is best to get the gun you like. There's a reason police forces around the country use Glocks instead of Taurus.

No disrespect intended, but I'm sure you meant to say, "Get the gun you shoot best." Like has nothing to do with it when you are choosing a tool to save your life.It is best to get the gun you like.

Re: What compact to get?
Well, Comp-Tec does not make a holster for the S&W Sigma series (yet as they have to purchase the pistol in order to produce the holster, and haven't had enough inquiries (YET) to justify it).
Anyway, they were very prompt in their email answer, and even suggested a different brand "Blade Tech" may offer a holster.
For these 2 points, I give them tremendous credit
First - they know the value of having to purchase a pistol and need to justify the cost, thats just good business sense,
Second - they were honest and even recommended what I can only assume is a competitor.
I assume from the Comp-Tec referral, that "Blade Tech" should be good, but would like to know if anyone has heard of them and has anything positive or negative to say about their holsters.
(this may just entice me to purchase a new gun - more common - for a good holster - which really means, more $$$.. argh
Thank you

Your observation on their service is correct. They are excellent to deal with, always.
I'm not real familiar with Bladetech, but I'd check Crossbreed's Supertuck next. The only downside to it is that you cannot change the kyodex (sp?) for another gun later, but other than that, it's the best same quality and comfort as the MTAC.
Sucks that this can't just be simple for ya. I definitely empathize with what you're going through!

If it were me with a Sigma, I'd go with Crossbreed or Kholster, and if you tuck in your shirt and don't want belt clips showing.... Crossbreed with velcro clips and a Comp-Tac or Crossbreed belt with Velcro, though a Kholster, Comfort Carry or Tucker would be more comfortable IMHO, because I don't like sandpaper against my skin..... but the Crossbreed is not bad and you might be able to request he build it with the smooth side of the leather against the skin since they aren't lined like Tucker's and Comfort Carrys are..

Re: What compact to get?
No offense taken, but I meant what I said. I believe that if you don't like your gun you most likely won't shoot it. There are a lot of guns I shoot extremely well but I don't necessarily like them. Moon clip revolvers, most rifles especially in 308, and Glocks to name a few. I carry and shoot the guns I like the best. Liking your gun will most likely translate into shooting it well. Liking and good shooting go hand in hand but they don't always go together.PeteCamp wrote:No disrespect intended, but I'm sure you meant to say, "Get the gun you shoot best." (All the benefits of a 19 length barrel ballistically, and grip size/capacity, but shorter slide, so it's easier to sit down with 19 barrel in a 26, than a 19.... Also, I'm more accurate with my "hybrid" than with a 17L, 17, or 19.)

Re: What compact to get?
I ended up getting a Taurus PT111 Pro.
I did look at the Glock 26, the Springfield XD-40 and a few other compacts, but they just did not feel right in my hand.
I picked up the PT111 Pro and it felt good, so I bought it.
Went to the range and it felt even better when shooting.
thank you, again, for all of the advice on what to get.
