What do you prefer to shoot? Handguns or long guns?

As much as I like all my rifles, handguns are my first love. I get kind of a rush shooting handguns.

I wasn't fortunate enough to grow up shooting. Never had Dad or Grand Pa hand down a rifle or pistol, and only twice had Dad take me shooting.

The first gun I ever owned was a 9mm pistol about 7 years ago. My first rifle didn't come until last year. Since then 3 more rifles have found thier way into the safe.

I started shooting at about age 8, both rifles and handguns, and enjoy them pretty close to equally now, but I am better with rifles.

I think my favorite depends what I am doing with it. I like the action shooting much more than just target shooting (although that is great fun as well). So things like IDPA and Skeet (or other clay targets) are my first choice. In general, Shotgun, Handgun, Rifle would be my order of preference though.

For self defense I like handguns....which also means that I practice a lot more often with handguns. For hunting....or for shooting sporting clays....I obviously prefer a long gun.

Have not really shot rifles. Some here and there. I am sure I would enjoy it, if I got one.

Which one to shoot? For just shooting I love to shoot the one I have my hands on. For hunting in Tex at close range ( 150 & under I prefer my M1A.) Get a lot of laughs but I get a lot of deer too. 200 yds + I love my Tikka T-3 Hunter .300 WSM. Carrying, I am married to Kimber. She is Compac & CDP.

I started out with 22 rifles, but these days I shoot handguns more than anything else.

Since I got my AR-15, and ditched my muzzle brake for a FS, I have gotten more into rifles. I love to take my AR out to the range.

Love to shoot machineguns too, although they can get expensive in a hurry.

Have never actually fired a shotgun before.

My handguns are there on me to allow me time, if I have the option to get to the "Homeland Defense Rifles"...

Then its just a matter of "game over"...Or someone crying "uncle"...Or something...

My wife actually (and this is a true story :D ) said I should get a shotgun for her to "use" if need be...

It was all I could do, to throw her into the truck, and head to my most favorite of distributors within 10 minutes of the house...

Now, someone has to help me here...

What does it mean when your spouse fires a shotgun for the first time and kind looks out the corner of their eye at you and kinda smirks (in a mischevious way???)...

I'm worried...

I think it means your shooting hobby is about to get more expensive, cause she's gonna want her own stuff
