Am I legal?
While driving in Texas you don't have to have your weapon concealed correct?
I like to keep my pistol in the change box next to me when I drive, if I were to get pulled over should I just leave it there and let the office know about it immediately?

This not correct and you would be arrested. I suggest that you take a CHL class and learn the appropriate laws.Trele6 wrote:While driving in Texas you don't have to have your weapon concealed correct?Comments / Suggestions

Now you don't have to have a concealed carry ~license~ but the gun itself must be hidden from plain sight.

That would be the opposite of what you are supposed to do. Do the opposite of what you are currently doing or thinking and you will be fine.

Handguns MUST be concealed in a vehicle, CHL or not CHL.
Long guns on the other hand do not have to be concealed in a vehicle.

Re: Am I legal?
can it be velcroed under the seat in a holster or in the pocket of the drivers door? i dont have my chl yet if that makes a difference.
Re: Am I legal?
When a cop walks up to your vehicle if he/she can see your pistol in plain sight you are going to get a gun pulled on you weather you have a CHL or not. If you are carrying a pistol it must be concealed, that means nobody can see it. There is no specifcation as to how you have to conceal it. A pistol/revolver/handgun must be concealed in your vehicle CHL or no CHL. A long gun does not have to be concealed. I was pulled over last year with my shotgun and deer rifle in open sight laid across the back seat of my truck, but my .45 glock was concealed. The cop was very polite and gave me a warning for speeding.
