The dangers of intervention

There have been a lot of posts asking "Can I use my gun if ______________ happens."

My standard answer to the "would you shoot if _______?" kinds of questions is "it depends."

The story was about intervention not "would you shoot if". Now after reading the story how many of you would behave like those security guards did in that video of the girl getting her face kicked and stomped? All this story tells me is we need better laws to protect people who act in good faith as a "good samaritan".

All that is necessary is for the castle doctrine and an accompanying liability exclusion be expanded to apply outside the home and business.

A: I posted this to answer the myriad of when can I shoot someone posts that have been appeating lately.

B: I am not advocating nor am I discouraging someone to step in and do the right thing.

C: Texas has a good Samaritan law I'm not sure if it applies to CHLs.

D: If anyone needs shooting in the story about the teen age girl it's the insecurity guards. Not one of them would "man up" and try to stop the fracas.

I posted this because intervention, especially armed intervention, is a slippery slope.

My answer to the question of when can I draw my gun/shoot is - - - when you know in your heart that it's the right thing to do and not before. We all have to balance our moral responsibility with our legal constraints. It's a Concealed Handgun License not a Jr. Cop Licsense.
