I heard somewhere that the current weather pattern will continue until Al Gore cries "unkle".

To quote my friend:
I find it funny that the meeting on global warming scheduled for today in Washington DC was canceled due to the fact the city is buried in the most recorded snow EVER. A lot of people should be feeling very stupid right now...
Idk if that's true or not, but it would be funny.

Oh! This weather is just so silly. 59,000 without electricity in the Metroplex. Record snowfall. Just went outside to my front yard with a ruler. 7" of snow. The dogs are going nuts in the backyard. They've never seen snow like this. Toby(the Airedale) loves it! His long legs let him walk just fine, but Munch(the beagle mix rescue) gets bogged down and has to hop to make any progress, as the snow is up past his shoulder blades! "rlol" :smilelol5: it was really a funny sight.

Most of the ISD's have closed up here. It's not freezing right now, but it will overnight. And all the water from the melted snow will freeze and shut everything down tomorrow.

I've lived in North Texas all my life, and I honestly don't remember this much snow.

I had to get on my roof and clean off my DirectTV satellite dish a while ago, because snow had accumulated in the dish and couldn't receive anything. Talk about scary. Luckily I had my boots on, and was able to traverse sideways up to the dish. Phew.

I'm ready for summer.

Thank goodness I don't have to do that. Thank you AT&T. It was bad enough getting the mail and clearing the drive apron so my wife would not hit the yard and crack the sprinkler heads.

Sure made me feel good not having to make trek to Dallas, unemployment does have an occasional advantage.: Now if I could just draw something comparable to what I made it would be just like a vacation.

I feel your pain, Joe! It took 1.25 hours to get home to Duncanville from I-35 and Northwest Highway area in Dallas (usually about 20 min!). I got home and someone (or two) had gone off the curve in front of the house and managed to miss the mailbox but still tore up some grass. The satelite dish was full of snow and had to clean it off.

Having grown up in Iowa, I have had enough snow and cold weather to last me a lifetime! I,too, am ready for some warm weather!!

They will just claim that it's a rebound effect or some such from global warming and that it just proves they are right. There is just no convincing some people. :headscratch

We have about 2" of snow on the ground right now (3:30 a.m.) and it is still coming down.

Good thing we have "Global Warming", who knows how much we would have gotten.
===================================================

Update: 6:45 a.m.................4-1/2" and still coming down.

I got this off the Ft.Worth weather office website:

"...SNOW EVENT ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS..."

"HE SNOWFALL TOTAL ON FEBRUARY 11TH IS THE GREATEST CALENDAR-DAY
SNOWFALL TOTAL ON RECORD FOR DALLAS/FORT WORTH. THE PREVIOUS RECORD
WAS 7.8 INCHES ON JANUARY 15, 1964 AND JANUARY 14, 1917."
