I'll post some eventually...they're not as extreme as you'd expect for $5,000.00 in damages, though. The big British beast held up pretty well at first glance, untill you start looking at all the little fractional bends of the handle bars, grind marks on the silencers, bent up mounting hardware inside the saddlebags, bent headlight housing, etc. Because those things really take an in-person inspection to detect, the pictures just don't do it justice; kinda like my knee LOOKS fine, but there's a cracked fibia inside it that's plain murder when I navigate the stairs at work. Just saw that x-ray today. Also got the results of the MRI that says my right rotator cuff is fifty percent torn through.

But don't tell Robin. She'll insist I get that fixed before I go to the range again (or ride the R3)...and there's a sweet Kimber Crimson Carry Pro under the tree for her this Christmas. I want to take her to the range the first weekend after Christmas to start breaking it in and get those laser grips aligned.

Are any of you members of TWTEX.com? (Two Wheeled Texans) FYI, it's a message forum much like this one, for motorcycle enthusiasts. There are a LOT of firearms enthusiasts and more than a few CHL carriers there as well.

Very glad to hear you are doing okay tfrazier. I have been in two wrecks on motorcycles myself. That was back in my "crotch rocket" days. Geez, I'm glad I got away from that style of bike!

Not to be a buzz kill here ( I ride too), but why are you drinking and riding a motorcycle. This is mistake #1. Any adding carrying to that, you are asking for trouble. You are riding a machine which has only 2 wheels and less than an inch of rubber on the road at high speeds. YOu need ALL of your concentration. Drinking and riding is just not a good idea. I like a beer now and then too, just not when I ride. I have just as good a time drinking icd tea and it makes me a better rider.

BTW: I have had a serious accident riding sober. I cannot even imagine drinking and riding. Even with full facalties it happened to me. Imparement is a no no. I spent 3 days at Parkland and 3 months recovering at home with 5 broken bones, some serious road rash, bruises and some serious embarassment. Be safe and leave the drinking to home or 4 wheels, and if you drink dont carry. You need to be able to tell the DA that you had full concentration when you pulled the trigger and any alcohol in your system will get you in front of a grand jury.

Who are you asking and where in this thread has anyone referred to drinking and riding (I see mention of going into bars, but that doesn't imply one has to be drinking while there)??? Or are you referring to the review I wrote on Willhoite's?

Tim - glad to hear that you are recovering. Seems like I read on your blog that shoulder surgery is imminent. After reading thru this thread I'm curious... were you carrying the Kimber? If so, how? Did it survive? Did it raise any questions for those who responded?

Surgery on the shoulder was two weeks ago tomorrow. Just picked the bike up from the shop (she looks better than she did before the crash!).



I wasn't carrying my Kimber at the time of the crash. I was on my commute home from work and since the company I work for is more interested in exporting jobs to Mexico and India than being patriotic I'm not allowed to have a gun in a vehicle while I'm on duty.

Funny thing, I used to work at a job where I'd get fired if I was caught NOT carrying a firearm...even off-duty!

Shoulder is healing rapidly, range of motion is better than ever, and the strength is nearly there...I'd say 90%. It pays to have a former Dallas Cowboys orthopaedic surgeon work on you. I now understand how those guys can be playing again in half the recovery time of most people. This guy is so confident of his work he even gave me a video of the operation (arthroscope viewpoint). It's way cool.

I'll be riding the bike and back to the shooting range by this weekend.

Good luck to you on the recovery. I was in a motorcycle accident myself in April in which my doctor told me there was a 50% chance that I would wake up after surgery minus 1 leg below the knee. Luckily I woke up with both legs still attached, though a few of my former activities will never be enjoyed again - one of them being riding motorcycles (or not having metal detectors go off every time I walk through one). That was too close of a call for me.

Hope you're recovering well and your recovery is fast.

Heal up quick. I didn't get the helicopter ride, but some of that story brought back memories. That was about 7 years ago for me. Still riding.
