Indeed. markswivel asks the question, and then mentions he does have one but he doesn't even answer his own question.

if you clicked on the link I posted of texas weapons violation attorney's a few posts above, you get tons of hits from all over the state. As many people don't list where they are from in their profile next to the avatar, it becomes increasingly difficult to recommend an attorney, since we don't know what area of the State the person is in. Wouldn't do much good to recommend my lawyer for someone who lives in Lubbock, El Paso, or Houston.

Does anyone have any experience with Bristol Myers? While I have no experience with him, I do appreciate his page on the complexity of weapons charges.

I don't have a criminal or weapons charges lawyer, I would appreciate seeing members' recommendations (especially for the Austin/Travis county area). I hope never to need it but it's always better to be prepared and never need it...

IMO, yes. Most, if not all, are criminal defense attorneys.

We have lists for holsters and safes, I think it would be great resource to have a list of "forum member recommended" CHL/RKBA knowledgeable/savvy lawyers.

I think that's an excellent idea. Maybe start a separate thread dedicated to only listing attorney's that handle such issues.

Actually, I have a local attorney whose services I've used in matters related to my business, but I don't think he handles criminal law matters. He is, however, very sympathetic to RKBA issues and to CHL, and I am confident that he would be able to recommend someone to me in my area who is competent in these matters if I ever needed it.

It actually her Aunt, a Criminal Defense Attorney. My wife is studying to be (not a Lawyer yet) a Intellectual Property Right Lawyer, but I'm trying to get her to do some Pro-Bono gun work for the NRA.

Corporate, Estate, Tax, Real Estate etc lawyers ALL can advertise "licensed in all phases of law". Including Criminal Law. My suggestion is
to search for a Board Certified Criminal Trial/Lawyer.

I asked this question some time ago. A wise person who frequents this forum said that he would call Rusty Hardin. I trust his opinion so I will do the same. It will be expensive, but if I am at this point where I need him then I want to do my best to ensure that I am represented well. As long as I can come up with the cash I will use him.

From this or another forum, don't remember, I found CHL Protective Plan. They charge $129.00 per year for covering your legal expenses for a justifiable use of force. Luckily, I have not had to use them. But, I felt it was cheap insurance in the case they were needed.

In answer to TexasTC's question: I looked over the application on the CHLPP website and it clearly says the applicant accepts the limitations and restrictions stated in the policy/agreement. I couldn't find the policy/agreement on the site so I called the CHLPP number and left messages twice last month. I finally got a response the first week of January. The representative said they would send me a copy of the policy/agreement in the mail to review. I gave him my address. It's been more than two weeks and I haven't received a thing.

I gave up on them.
