How many carry more than one gun?

Post by MoJo »

How many of the members here routinely carry more than one gun? If you do why? If you don't why?

I carry at least two guns with me any time I'm off my property, unless I'm going somewhere carry is prohibited. ie. Court House most Hospitals, etc. I don't get a warm fuzzy leaving more than one gun locked in my vehicle. Normally I have a .40 caliber S&W M&P with 2 spare mags and a .38 snubby with 2 reloads. There are times I carry two M&Ps and the same number of spare magazines the snubby is always there. ;-) Some may think this is overkill or paranoia. :headscratch Guns are mechanical devices and mechanical devices seem to break at the worst times. Also I think a New York reload beats even the fastest mag change. :thumbs2: What are your thoughts?

I ALWAYS carry at least two. "Two is one and one is none." Every tool could fail. I seen in one post some said that a five shot revolver will always work. This is not a true statement. I have had S&W fail and I have had Colts fail. I like the thought of if one gun fails or runs out of ammo I have another. :fire

Yeap, P99 IWB and an M&P9c in an ankle holster. The M&P is mostly for the wife who can shoot it well, but who doesn't have (and won't get) a CHL, aswell as a regular BUG for me. The ankle is exceeding slow and obvious to draw from unless you are sat at a table and can do it stealthily so it is in no way a primary carry method IMO. Try drawing from down there while being rushed by a pit bull :-)

I would say that the Renegade ankle holster is surprisingly comfy once you get the knack of how to attach the velcro - I can wear it all day.

Before I bought a dedicated gun belt I wore my backup in a shoulder holster, mainly to keep my pants from falling down from the weight of my OWB holster :thumbs2:

A special case of packing two. On the street, I carry one mousegun, 380 or 9mm depending on my level of irrational paranoia. BUT, the special case is in the car. Where the second gun is a REAL gun, a 357. With a speedloader. And a box. Juste en cas. On ne sais jamais, chere.

Like another said, depends upon what I'm wearing. This time of year, usually two.

I rarely ever carry a backup gun. On the rare occasion when I do, it is usually a 642 Airweight carried in an ankle or pocket holster. But the reason I don't usually carry a BUG is weight... ....as in I don't want to carry any more of it. A loaded pistol plus 1 or 2 extra magazines is already enough weight for me. I have a bad back (which has been giving me a lot a grief for the past couple of days), and on some days I can't even bear to wear a holster so I "man-bag" it with a Versipack. All of that pretty much precludes carrying a second gun.

Same here. If I'm wearing wider waist pants, I'll carry my Bersa 9mm and my LCP.

If I'm wearing pants the right size for my waist, then just the LCP in a pocket holster.

I only carry one. I cannot imagine drawing my first and it malfunctioning and then having time to draw a second. Its a discipline to always wear one, two would be too inconvenient and would not fit my lifestyle.
I'm not LEO, special ops, or dirty harry; I'm just a 30 something guy who is too idle to find another hiding place for another gun "rlol"

I normally carry Zero guns. My wife forbids me from owning guns. I do shoot and have a CHL.

Occasionally, when I go fishing or shooting with my dad, he'll loan me one of his guns. A 380 such as a Ruger LCP or a Kel-Tec P3AT is perfect for winter because it can fit in a coat pocket. You can draw from the coat pocket while driving with a seat belt on. You can put your hand in your pocket when there is a perceived high threat level. It reduces draw time when you already have your hand on your gun.

In the summer, carrying a Glock 19 in a Smartcarry is perfect. With a Smartcarry, you can wear shorts and still carry a full size service pistol. It is a slow and awkward draw in the car with seatbelt on, but it is possible. I can see it being fast with practice.

If the threat level is high such as using an ATM at night or one of those Redbox DVD rental machines in front of the convenience store at night, then I'll carry 2 guns. Why 2 guns? Guns are mechanical and may fail. It is faster to grab a small gun instead of a spare mag if you run out of ammo. Plus, modern mouse guns are no bigger than a spare mag (almost).

I almost always carry two, sometimes more if it means winning dinner from my friends. Tomorrow however I am forced to make a decision I do not like. The choices are: Carry one gun or Open Carry one and Conceal the backup. I hate visiting New Mexico.
