According to Google Maps, Eyemasters shares locations with Classic Chevrolet! I've never seen it there. Maybe I need a new prescription? :smilelol5:

As is, your letter is FAR too long.

If you want it read, Oldgringo's exemplar is right on the money.

To the point makes a powerful impact.

Perhaps consider also telling them that they now have 5 locations individuals have found and posted at texas3006.com. One more location... and since E comes before J... they make it to the "Wall of Shame" at the top of the site!
Wow, thought they only had three hits on the site. Didn't know it was five until I just searched again. Thanks Russell.

Just visited the Grapevine Eyemasters....NO 30.06 that I could detect/see (no pun). Found a nice pair of glasses too.

***Edited - just made a HUGE liar out of myself, sorry all...went to
the doc next door and barely noticed a very very small 30.06 sign on the glass, hardly any contrast and the lettering is wayyyyyyy to small to be valid.

Didn't see this earlier AND I looked...and looked AGAIN!! :banghead:

Find the invalid 30.06 sign at the Grapevine Eyemasters. Here's a hint - see the white sign...look for white lettering on the glass...

Door on the left, a little bitty non valid 30.06 sign to the right by the dummy door.

My hesitancy in this type of thing is in that you have law enforcement like here who says that the sign is still sufficient enough to express the owners desire, regardless. As such, same uneducated LEO can arrest, and have you stand before an equally uneducated judge.

To give you an idea, we moved here from Abilene. We sold our house there and purchased one here in Brownwood. Simple process called "dual closing" is done more often than not in Abilene, where your lawyer has 2 stacks of paper... one on the house your selling, one on the house your buying. One fell swoop. Lawyer in Brownwood never heard of it and didn't know how to do it. lawyer in Abilene says "you don't have to, you fax me the documents and we handle it here in Abilene." Both lawyer and Abstract office in Brownwood says "We've never done it that way, and we aren't starting." As a result, my family was "homeless" for a weekend. I am finding this mentality on a lot of things here...it's the way grandaddy did it, and it was fine then.

I don't worry too much as long as I am well concealed, but I rather doubt that the "doesn't meet the criteria for a legitimate 30.06" to work around here.

Name a business that wouldn't think twice about turning away 6,000 potential customers.
The Grapevine Eyemasters couldn't care less about anyone who lives more than 50 or so miles away.

I don't know if Eyemasters is a franchise or a single company. This signage business seems to be inconsistent from location to location.

As a statewide enterprise, they are alienating over 300,000 potential customers.

I've seen quite a few widely publicized boycotts that had no effect.

I think that a person has to take a realistic approach. Telling a business, "We hate you and we're not going to spend money with you," does not work.

Disney World still has "gay days," don't they? Yep.

I'm wondering if y'all think I should mention to them that their tiny little sign is non compliant.
Complain if you want but never tell them their sign isn't compliant. Unless your goal is getting them to post a compliant sign.
I respectfully disagree. Point out that their sign is invalid and likely to be unenforceable, and that attempted enforcement of an invalid sign is likely to be met with a lawsuit.

Point out that there are alternative signages available if their intention is to attempt to keep out criminals bearing arms, that the 30.06 sign does not apply to anyone other than CHL holders.

Provide a copy of that statute highlighting the letter size, and point out the necessary size of the compliant sign.

Let them post the compliant sign, if they do, no loss, if they don't, then they have been put on notice that their sign doesn't meet the requirements of the law and they can't expect it to be effective.

When we lived in FL, one year Disney World even had their gay day the same day as their "home school day"..... I'm sure that was an accident.....

Austin; FWIW;
unlike most posters, I like your original version best. It not only points out the issues but also the apparent hypocrisy of their own corporate statements. Letters cc'd to CEO's by customers are not usually ignored. Although I am not a CEO nor do I play one on tv, I have personally seen letters from customers to a CEO cc'd to every managment employee (Fortune 500 company, thousands of managers)...Just my opinion. Great letter.
thanks for the efforts on our behalf

Is that an official Disney event? Doesn't look like it's on the Disney calendar, so it's no different from us all deciding to go to Taco Bell and declare CHLForum Day. So, you're actually supporting my argument by pointing out that Disney isn't willing to kick out however many gays show up for that event.

For that matter, if EyeMasters wants to have one day a year designated no-carry, I won't mind too much.
