Well, I know I'm in control of the the vehicle unless I let go of the wheel and take my feet off the pedals
But what I hope to have clarified is if the law is the same for commercial vehicles that do not require a CDL to operate. There is a post near the start of this thread that indicates commercial vehicles are excluded from the act (law) in question - and I'm asking if that is correct or not.
And while were on the subject (and this board is full of experts - not being sarcastic) what about vehicles that do require a CDL, ie: "18 Wheelers"?
Thanks.

If all of these requirements are met, could a non-chl holder have a handgun in, e.g., a glove-box on a school parking lot?

I know a CHL holder can.

Thanks,

Larry
From other threads on the subject, I believe that the short answer for a non-CHL holder is "No".
Bummer, thanks for the reply.

Well, not an expert, but I do have a CDL. This is one of those small areas where I have my opinion and it differs from what some have posted here. I see no mention of the restriction on commercial vehicles in the law. As I read it, if you own it or are in control of it, you can carry, with the other restrictions, and it doesn't matter if it is a permit tractor trailer that is over width, length, and weight or the smallest moped on the street. If it is a motor vehcile, you can carry.

I think part of the confusion over commercial vehicles is in the area of taxi's and busses. If I am paying the taxi to take me to a specific place, it can be debated that I am in control of it. It also can be argued that I have rented it (or the bus when I pay the fare). I would not recommend trying either of these arguments as I do not believe this was what was meant by in control. But for driving a commercial vehicle, I think you should be OK - until your boss says otherwise.

Thanks for checking it out S.R. I couldn't find anything either, and it's always nice to have a second opinion.
