New & Reloaded Ammo Sources - Houston Area
I have family in the Spring - Conroe area who are looking for good dealers of reasonably priced new and reloaded ammo for both handguns and rifles. I'm not familiar with the resources in that part of the state. I'd appreciate any suggestions for good folks I could point them towards.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Do they have a website? Other than maybe cost savings what is the advantage of reloaded ammo? I have always heard not to shoot someone else's reloads...is that correct? Could they be any cheaper than buying in bulk from a distributor?CompVest wrote:Collins Cartridge Company is located in Conroe.

A word about reloads. If the reloader is well educated about reloading and takes pride in their work reloads are just fine. Reloads made for me by SRVA are all I shoot for practice and for competition. I have found I am just as apt to have an ammo reladted malfunction from factory ammo as I am reloads. So inspect your ammo and know what to expect when the gun goes bang.

Keep in mind that if you gun is still under warranty or has a lifetime warranty most manufactures will not warranty using reloads (check your owners manual". If buying reloads make sure the reload manufacture offers their own warrenty on your gun if it goes bang.Excaliber wrote:I have family in the Spring - Conroe area who are looking for good dealers of reasonably priced new and reloaded ammo for both handguns and rifles. Like with everything else, we have to live with the consequences of our choices. That's why I sought the collective wisdom of the Forum members when looking for reliable providers of the reloaded ammo option.FL450 wrote:Keep in mind that if you gun is still under warranty or has a lifetime warranty most manufactures will not warranty using reloads (check your owners manual". Re: New & Reloaded Ammo Sources - Houston Area
I purchased about 2500 rounds from Collins Cartridge Company and honestly so far I have had 0 FTF or other issues with their ammo. it was all fmj .40 and 9mm. I've shot perhaps 1200 or so so far.
They are quite easy to deal with as well - you can avoid shipping charges and just swing by for pre-arranged pickup (they work out of a residence's garage).
All in all, the price was competitive and the brass is all major manufacturer.

I bought 1,000 rounds of .45 ACP from them and have shot 200 rounds through my new Kimber with no issues. I researched before buying at a gun show and could find nothing but positive comments. The price was good, but given how much fun it is to shoot this pistol, I'll probably start my own reloading.dayo wrote:I purchased about 2500 rounds from Collins Cartridge Company and honestly so far I have had 0 FTF or other issues with their ammo. it was all fmj .40 and 9mm.
