I'm afraid this thread has drifted away from the original question, regarding the stopping power.

Of course the answer is that there's no such thing as stopping power. It's a myth. Any gun will do the job if you'll do your part.

I wonder how "concealed in plain sight" would go over in court?

I dunno about court, but the NAA mini-revolver belt-buckle-holsters "conceal in plain sight," but have been declared "open-carry," and thus, not legal. I imagine earrings would be similar.
