Video: Schertz,TX LEO w/Lasermax vs. AK-47 bad guy
https://www.lasermax.com/products/trafficStop.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?
The above dashcam video is from a Schertz, TX police car. Schertz is on
the NE edge of San Antonio, near <Loop? FM?> 1604. This incident happened 3/3/2005,
and began at 1136 PM. This video is ~ 2 minutes, 30 seconds in length.
This LEO showed exceptional savvy under fire. His patrol car received at least
24 rounds from the AK. I was able to count them in a still photo in a gun magazine.
The car is shown at the end of the video with the forensic rods that show bullet
trajectories.
If the LEO had been in his driver's seat when the AK opened up, he would not have
survived. This LEO managed to hit the BG with 3 rounds and did not injure any
innocent parties on a traffic-filled road. Quite a performance, aided by the fact
that his handgun was equipped with a Laser.

This is only one of the reasons training is soooo important. When you are outgunned this bad, better training is imperrative.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

living in that area I can say that this does not surprise me one bit. I agree with the above...this is why training is important!

Wow! Great post SIA! That was an amazing video. A shootout with lots of traffic. Training was the only thing that saved the LEO's life. How many bullet holes did the officer's car have?

Just as firepower is, in reality, a function of making hits, being outgunned is a function of who hits whom and how often, so obviously it was the guy with the AK that was outgunned.longtooth wrote:This is only one of the reasons training is soooo important. Years ago I issued a challenge to an anti-gun yo-yo who was mouthing off about how horrible it was with all of these gang bangers outgunning the police because they had Uzis. Not that this was a couple of decades ago when Uzi was the anti-gun gun of choice to justify outlawing ALL guns.
I suggested that we have a duel. The anti-rights person would get an Uzi and any amount of ammo, and I would get my '03-A3 Springfield and one round, and face off at a distance of 600 yards we would see who was outgunned. If the anti-gun nut was not confident enough in his firepower, I offered an alternative that we each would shoot at targets at the same range, with the highest percentage of hits on target determining the winner.
I have offered a similar challenge for handguns and shotguns, and have never had any serious takers. Maybe they realize that they are misusing the terms and don't want to lose.

When I counted the holes in the Crown Vic, while viewing a magazine picture that was
just OK-clear, it appeared that there were at least 24 rounds that hit the cruiser.
If the bad guy had expended all rounds in his AK magazine, I believe the number could have been 30, IIRC.

That's a great ad. I think most folks overestimate their abilities when they're under stress. I've thought about the laser grips and bolt-ons because I'm realisitic enough to believe when it really ccounts, odds are high it will not be my tighest group ever.

The distance looked to be around 7 to 10 yards, the officer used a tool that helped him acquire the target, not every officer has guns with night sights,so being able to line up your sights on target under fire could be extremely difficultZee wrote:That's a great ad. It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them
