It would appear that the 'Police Captain' could use a bit of retraining. Maybe start carrying his sidearm too.

Have the police been hamstringed so bad in Seattle that this could happen under normal circumstances?

Its Seattle! Probably has to have the BG sign forms agreeing to let the officer point his weapon at him then all require a group hug afterwards to ease and feelings of inadequacy or internal pain. The BG didnt want to hug so he refused to show his hands, LEO was then required to let him leave unmolested and report to "Diversity" training.

Smart crooks commit identity theft or white-collar crime, and many of them get away with it.

I used to investigate certain types of white collar crime, back in England. The typical perp that I would send to jail was a regular guy that you'd probably regard as a good neighbour, who didn't really think that what he was doing was wrong.

Some of these "regular guys" stole millions.

In League City, a 21-year-old man was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting. His vehicle was towed. In jail, he used the monitored phone to call the towing company, impersonate a police officer, and try to get his vehicle released with no charges. He failed to accomplish that.

The man has been charged with felony impersonation of a police officer.

In Homestead, Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh area) yesterday an 18-year-old man filled out a job application at a Subway shop.

Then, in the parking lot of the shop, he used a handgun to rob a customer, getting $15.

He was arrested at home a short time later.

While this story has a happy ending, please please, don't leave your keys in the ignition when you get out of the vehicle. I have seen way too many bad outcomes of this practice, including vehicles being stolen with children in them, and children putting vehicles in gear.

Looking back, Patrick Rosario realizes it probably wasn't the wisest thing to do.

Still, as it turned out, the burglars who tried to loot his Bellevue home got a surprise of their own as they began their escape: Rosario had made off with their getaway car.

In Clarence, New York (Buffalo area) a man trying to buy drugs accidentally called the local Crime Stoppers phone line.

A deputy answered, "Crime Stoppers." The caller ignored the announcement and said he was looking to score some drugs.

The deputy strung the caller along and set up a sting. The caller led undercover officers to another drug dealer, who was arrested.

The caller was not arrested.

In Omaha today, a man attempted to rob a Taco Bell while a uniformed off-duty police officer was working as a security guard. The alleged robber refused the officer's command to surrender.

In Bedford Co., Virginia (Roanoke area) last week a 20-year-old member of the cream of America's youth called 911 to say that he had been shot by a black man who then fled. The report led to school lockdowns and a manhunt for the shooter.

Today the shooting victim was charged with filing a false report and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He allegedly shot himself by accident.

The man was charged with felony theft and possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had an air-conditioner, other metal parts, marijuana, and cocaine.

Theft of any amount of copper or aluminum tubing or wire is a felony.

The location is ironically not far from the PSC range.
