Dave, Just be thankful you aren't trying to deal with Beretta Customer Service... Basically they don't have any..

I think you will find that when the "smoke clears" the folks at KelTec Customer Service will resolve the problem to your satisfaction. I'm sorta amazed that your 2nd gen. P3AT is having problems, as it seems most 1st gen. problems were resolved in the new model. The original P3AT did have it's share of problems, but considering the relatively powerful 380 rd. in such a small, light pistol I guess it should be expected to some degree.

I have two KT's.. A P32 and a P11. Both have been exceptional both in reliability and accuracy at self defense ranges. (5-7 yards). I hope to buy one of the soon to be released slim 9 pistols (PF-9) after all of the hoopla dies down.

I chose the P32 over the P3AT because I'm a senior citizen with reduced hand strength and when I called KT Customer Service that's what they recommended.. Plus the P32 has a slide lock, and an additional round. The recoil is modest, and it is very easy to shoot accurately.

If you have the interest you might monitor http://www.KelTecRange.com, http://www.KTOG.com, or http://www.BersaTalk.com (KelTec section). Here you will find answers to almost any KT question you might have. Nice folks at all three places.

So far I have to say that customer service has been very helpful. I really like the size and accuracy, if the reliability issue can be resolved I will be very happy with it. I was amazed at the accuracy especially considering the rudimentary sights - at 3 and 7 yds I can put 9 out of ten in the center ring with a group of about 2 - 2 1/2 " at fifteen yds my group is about 5", really outstanding for such a little pistol. If everything works out all right in the end with the P3AT I will probably consider a PF9 at some point in time. (I will wait though for others to do the 'beta testing'.

By the way, thanks for the links - I do monitor KTORG and sometimes KelTecRange.com but was unaware of the Kel Tec section on Bersa Talk.

It is a violation of the 1986 Gun Control Act to indicate on the outside of a package sent via common carrier that in contains a handgun. To save UPS from inadvertently violating the law, I never describe my pre-wrapped "machine parts" package’s contents. I guess if pressed, I would disclose the contents as a high speed paper punch (I use paper targets) :grin:

I always ship my handguns to Kel-Tec as machine parts and address them to CNC Inc. without Kel-Tec in the address line. Of course, I normally ship ground for under $9 (including insurance) as I am shipping to an “other than.

It's also a violation to not notify a common carrier that you're shipping a firearm.

You do not need to notify a common/commercial carrier that your package contains a gun when shipping to an “other than, which includes the manufacture.

The note at the bottom of those FTA Q&A will take you to the actual law and statues. [18 U. S. C. 922( a)( 2)( A) and 922( e), 27 CFR 178.31]

See ATF question;
(B9) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by carrier?

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by carrier to a resident of his or her own state or to a licensee in any state. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm. [18 U. S. C. 922( a)( 2)( A) and 922( e), 27 CFR 178.31]

178.31 Delivery by common or contract carrier.

(a) No person shall knowingly deliver or cause to be delivered to any common or contract carrier for transportation or shipment in interstate or foreign commerce to any person other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, any package or other container in which there is any firearm or ammunition without written notice to the carrier that such firearm or ammunition is being transported or shipped:
