CA: Lame excuse for shooting wife

#1

Post by seamusTX »

In San Miguel, California, in July, a 25-year-old man allegedly shot his wife in their home. He reportedly said that the family dog ran between his legs and tripped him while he was walking down the stairs with a pistol "because he was planning to remove the ammunition before fire inspectors came to his home later that day to examine new sprinklers in the condominium."

The man was charged with involuntary manslaughter. The dog was not charged.

Norris has pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charge and to allegedly possessing an illegal weapon at his home — a semiautomatic rifle found by investigators.
Norris had been handling the semiautomatic pistol because he was planning to remove the ammunition before fire inspectors came to his home later that day to examine new sprinklers in the condominium.
Lame excuse for reporting.
During questioning from defense attorney Ilan Funke-Bilu, Terrell noted that Norris was crying and would “zone off” at times during the interview.
Anyone hiring Funke-Bilu as a criminal lawyer deserves what he gets.

Due to the quality of the reporting, you don't know this for sure. :biggrinjester:

From the comments on the article:
Maybe you didn't read my post. In particular the part about the purpose of a gun being to put holes into living things and make them dead. I'm not bashing guns; as I said I'm a supporter of the 2nd Ammendment. But a gun should not be loaded unless it is about to be used, with the obvious exception of law enforcement because they might be called to use their weapons at any time.

Guns are not life-saving devices - they are life-ending devices. That is their purpose.

I don't blame the gun - I blame the idiot who either had it loaded when it didn't need to be (in the home and not in use) or intentionally killed his wife.
This bit cracks me up who either had it loaded when it didn't need to be (in the home and not in use) or intentionally killed his wife...anyone else keep their weapon loaded at home, or is that just me? "rlol"

I believe the smart money (and the jury apparently) is going with or intentionally killed his wife.
Terrell (the defence attorney) said that Norris told him he was familiar with weapons because of his training in the military.
Then he should know to keep the booger hook off the bang switch then right?

FL: Lame excuse for shooting husband

#4

Post by seamusTX »

Wow! another trend.

In Fountain, Florida (middle of nowhere), November 14, a woman reported that her husband was killed when the family dog knocked over a rifle.

(Good aim, there, Rover.)

The wife has been charged with murder. The dog has not been charged.

OK....I have been reading several threads on this forum and I have reached the conclusion that dogs are the issue here.

Restrictions (or even total bans) should be placed on all dog owners (after they register of course). No amendments (that I know of) guarantee anyone the right to own dogs, and even if there was this obviously only meant dogs of circa 1776. These new assult dog have no place in a civilised society. Their only purpose is the kill or maim. Large breed dogs should be only allowed for law enforcement or military use (unless you are in government then you can own whatever you want). You should have to have a licence for all dogs and have a mandatory 3 day cooling off period when buying one.

EDIT: As my avatar I have a picture of my daily carry dog! "rlol"

:tiphat:
My wife is anti-dog. How can I change her mind. I was raised with dogs. No member of my family was ever harmed by a dog. I told her, that the dog would be licensed and trained. She is still worried, about if the dog goes off. She reads all the stories in the papers.

I have thought about setting a shotgun off on my cat, but not the other way around. Next time he does a run-by swatting of my behind while he leaps through the air, I may reverse my policy on restraint.

When I met her she didn't know much about guns. I'm fixing that :tiphat:

Just slowly

She now knows how to safely handle a small revolver for a short period of time.
