I was in Euless Guns & Ammo this afternoon, for completely unrelated reasons to this purchase, and I spied a Springfield Armory M1A Loaded on the shelf behind the clerk. This one had an OD Green synthetic stock (model MA9229) on it, but it is otherwise exactly the same as this one here with the black stock: http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=47.
Features include...
- Barrel: 22", 6 groove, 1:11 RH Twist, Parkerized, National Match Medium Weight, Premium Air Gauged
- Front Sight: National Match .062" Military Post
- Rear Sight: GI Match Grade Non-Hooded Aperture .0520, Adjustable 1/2 MOA for windage and 1 MOA for elevation
- Trigger: 2 Stage Military Trigger, Match Tuned, 4.5-5.0 lbs

I just ordered four 20 round Promag magazines from Midway, but I'm just itching to get out and shoot this thing! I've got a friend with a big deer lease that he says is crawling with hogs, and for my money, this is the ideal hog gun.
Anyway, I'm not nearly done acquiring guns, but this particular rifle, the M1A, has been one I have lusted after since I first saw the M14 in a news photograph when I was a kid. I thought it was the most beautiful military rifle ever made then, and I still do. I love my bolt rifles, and my ARs are the bomb, but the M1A is just plain one of the sexiest rifles ever designed.
I am a happy man tonight.
