Good deal on an almost new pistola
Absolutely SIA! It is one reliable gun. I paid $253 for mine back in May; 2 mags, speed loader, hard case & inst. manual. And used it to qualify with, and shot a 248 on the exam. Not the best built around, and not the most accurate, but I'll take it in a heartbeat. I've never had a FTF, after about 600 rounds through it. And it's made in U.S.A. :patriot:

Beauty is indeed the eyes of the beholder. Gosh, I have a Ruger, and a LOT of people think it's the most ugly gun they've ever seen. One persons ugly is another persons beauty. :thumbs2:
Joe,

I know I was not offended in the slightest. I like lots of different pistols. Out of those, the Glock just seems to fit the bill for me these days.

No offense taken. As I said, the Glocks may not win any beauty parades but they run well, are accurate and are always at the ready. Actually so is the XD9 but it has the added grip safety.

If we all found the same things beautiful then we would all love Faith Hill.....hmmmmm

Depending on budget and features you need or want, it will probably wind up being an easy choice.

There are not many players in the compact/concealable single-stack 9mm game.

If you want a SA polymer pistol with an upside-down manual safety, then the Taurus 709 is the one to get.

If you want a DAO polymer striker-fired pistol, Kahr is the obvious choice but austinrealtor is likely to suggest a Walther PPS as well. If your budget is in the $400 range then a CW9 is the way to go. If you need something a little smaller then a Kahr PM9 is pretty much the only thing in its size class. The Walther looks real nice but is a lot more expensive than a CW9.

DAO polymer with a hammer, and on a budget, gets you a Kel-Tec PF9. I am not sure I would believe the anti-hype, reports of "issues", because Kel-Tecs seem to be tinkerer's guns with very well-documented running changes and refinements from K-T and a lot of owners who choose to fiddle with them or send them back to K-T for the latest updates. Kel-Tec has killer customer service and warranty responsiveness that my very well be unrivaled in the industry for an American pistol (ok, maybe Smith & Wesson is in their league). Kel-Tec owners I know all attest to their reliability and would not trade them.

I happen to have chosen a Kahr CW9. The Kel-Tec PF9 was on the list and I was close to buying one of them instead (I may still get one some day). My Kahr has been problematic but it seems to be 100% reliable now. I think the Walther PPS is reported to have a really good trigger, and I really like the Kahr trigger, but the Kel-Tec trigger stinks IMHO. If I had it to do over again, I'd still buy the Kahr but maybe I'd spring another $100 or so and get a P9 instead od the CW9.

Rumor is that Glock may come out with a single-stack subcompact to rival Kahr and Kel-Tec and it would be a real serious rival.

I'm a big Glock 26 fan, I think for the size and weight it's a great CCW especially with a really good holster like an MTAC.

That being said I have been through a few different smaller size CCW's and here are my thoughts for what their worth.

1. Kahr PM9, not really significantly smaller than the glock, fewer rounds, more expensive, not as accurate IMO.
2. KT PF-9 Mine was nothing but trouble from day 1, I sent it back to them and had the worst CS ever, I actually sent my CHL paperwork in the same week and got my card back b4 my KT.
3. Glock 36- Only 6 rounds, I know it's 6 rounds of 45 but it just doesn't impress me, for the slight size difference I'd go with the G30 SF with 10 rounds. If you insist on .45 it's basically the same size as the 26.
4. Sig Sauer P239, Not one mention of the fine weapon yet but this is my new favorite and I hope to have it for a long time. 8 in the mag +1, ~11 lb, 1st pull so virtually no chance of a misfire in a shaky situation and I have to admit out of many guns that I have had this is by far the best most accurate shooter of them all out to 10 yards.
5. Ruger LCP, I'm not a fan of .380 but you can drop it any pocket and it disappears. I keep it in my car and put it in the pocket when i get out. Easier than strapping on a holster and wearing a belt.

The Gun that you will actually Carry is the right gun.

Stick with a MK9, they are less finicky. I carry a MK40 (all stainless steel) and love it. It is easy to conceal (I pocket carry in my front pocket). Being stainless steel it is a bit heavy, but I like the fact that I can easily remove it from my pocket (I normally carry it under my thigh when I drive and slip it into my pocket when I get out of the vehicle).

:headscratch

same barrel, same magazine, same feed ramp, same slide, same everything except the frame material as a PM, it should not be any different in regards to which ammunition it runs.

BTW my CW9 is not finicky at all about ammo. If by "finicky" you mean it light-strikes Winchester ammo, well that's a defect that Kahr will (eventually) sort out if you send it back. Whatever other issues you have with factory ammo, I am sure Kahr will also remedy that. My Kahr has never had any problem loading any ammo (although I have not tried 147gr), but only had problems with light primer strikes.

If I were getting anther one:
- Ultra-compact 1911 (3" barrel). Very thin proven design in a 45. Some don't like the manual thumb safety and the 'light' ones are aluminum framed, tough. No polymer ones around that are affordable.
- Slim glock 40 caliber (don't know the model designation). Glocks always work.
- Ultra-compact springfield armory XD in 40 caliber. I've heard nothing but good stuff about all the XD pistols and my wifes' hasn't missed a beat in a 1000 rounds.
Cheers!
