I am also very happy to buy those delicious cookies.... Mmmmmmm
:iagree: And it is almost that time for them to start selling again. (Two Girls Scouts and a Troop Leader in my house. No chance of me missing any cookies! lol)
:clapping: ammo two...I'm in the same boat. Two Girl Scouts and a Troop Leader who will also be the "cookie manager" for the troop come January!!! Their troop sold over 1600 boxes last year. That will dominate a dining room, I assure you!

I don't mind those as badly, it's the ones that ring the doorbell at 8am on a saturday and the ones that catch you in the street. I did find however that in my town it's illegal for them to try to solicit on public right of ways and if on private property must leave at the first mention that the person isn't interested and can't keep pushing. They must also carry a license on their person easily visible.

I like those ordinances!
I think I missed something...whats the legal sinage?
The city where I live at states in the ords that if you have the "No Soliciting" sign soliciters are not to bother you. Perhaps "legal sinage" was the incorrect term, I'm not a lawyer sorry.

Combine one of these with a sign "Warning electric fence".

Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

That's automatically moot due to state preemption. But yes, it should be removed.

I've also wanted to post some sort of sign, but don't want to discourage the kids on my street from selling cookies and things like that for church and school (and Girl Scouts!). I'm afraid that they would be the only ones to observe a sign if I posted it.
I don't even open the door to adults I don't know. Doing so is a safety hazard. I tell them I'm not intersted through the window and leave it at that.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Maybe a "No Soliciting, unless you're under the age of 16" sign :)

Yeah, cause that will only get you in trouble if you're a Catholic Priest or live in a "compound" with multiple underage wives "rlol"

(please note: no offense to Catholics intended at all in above joking reference; just a "fair comment" based on well-reported news stories ... like a bad Jay Leno monologue joke)

That is why I never let my kids sell door to door for the school. I think it is crazy the schools put the kids at risk.

I wouldn't be concerned with the risk, I'm more worried about teaching kids to beg. Because, face it: that's what school fundraisers are these days. They're not about learning to sell a product based on its merits, they're only about preying on the pity gene, and convincing people to accept a crappy overpriced product, which must be okay as long as they're "supporting the children".

I sold Grit magazine as a kid, and sold fresh citrus from the Rio Grande Valley for FFA fundraisers. We didn't beg people to give us money in exchange for a product they would throw away, we convinced them that we had an excellent product they would enjoy, at a good price they wouldn't mind paying again next year.

These days, the items purchased (other than chocolate bars and Girl Scout cookies) are just throwaways.

The problem, as I've mentioned elsewhere, is that they may not have bothered to tell the police department that it's unenforcible, or that some rookie who slept through the briefing may have read the ordinance and decide to use it against a CHL holder.

Even if they let you go pretty quickly before you can get your lawyer involved, how much will it cost you to miss a business meeting or a job interview that you were on your way to when arrested? How embarrassing would it be to get arrested while waiting to speak at a Tea Party or an unposted city council meeting, or pulled off the 9-12 float during a parade?
