That would be comparing apples and oranges, so I cannot relate my views to street racing. I was talking about the reasons I own guns and how I feel about using one in the event of a face-to-face confrontation, not the broader topic of scenarios where my life is in danger.
Also, the link you posted would not load so I can not give my opinion on it.

It does not relate at all, in my opinion. Street racing is illegal yes. But it is not deliberate aggression and violence directed at you, or anyone else. Unless of course they are aiming their car right at you, intent on doing you bodily injury or death.

There is no justification in using deadly force against someone you observe street racing.

Read Chapter 2 of the Handbook issued to all CHL holders. It is dedicated to deadly force statutes:

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/ftp/forms/LS-16.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Those people on the other forums are complete idiots, and will spend a VERY long time in prison if they ever commit an act like they brag about doing. They are obviously ignorant of the laws.
I agree with you on most of that. But would you say that everyone that breaks into your home has intentions of doing bodily harm? If their intentions are other than stealing then you would call them a murderer or a rapist etc, not a burglar.

Come on dude we are trying to have a respectable conversation about this topic. I can offer a point of view that most of you can not. I am not a criminal. I do not break into peoples homes or anything else for that matter. I would be willing to take a lie detector test to prove it. Before anyone even starts throwing dirt into the fire I will tell you this. I was convicted of a crime I committed 18+ years ago. Burglary of a motor vehicle. I stole beer out of a beer truck. I was caught with a pistol in the car while I was on probation.
I have spent over 3 years in college. I have over 130+ college credit hours. My IQ is above average and I believe people can learn from their mistakes. Thank you for your time. You guys are very respectable on this forum.

Yes. To assume anything else would be putting me, my family, my possessions at dire risk.
If their intentions are other than stealing then you would call them a murderer or a rapist etc, not a burglar.
I have NO idea what the intentions are of anyone who would break into my house, and I will not try to second guess myself.

Have you read the Deadly Force Statutes I posted?
I have been listening to some gun owners (on another website)talking about killing criminals just because they can and I am down right disgusted.
Care to share with us the other forum(website) you are referring to?

I am going to second this recommendation, 5.0svo has a history of becoming belligerent when anyone sides with the good guy.

Click this link and it will Google his user name, the pertinent thread is the first link it goes to. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=5.0svo&l=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I dont know what their intentions are exactly and I dont care to find out.
You break into my home you have intentions to do something wrong. Just because he/she intends to "just" burglarize does not mean that they will not escalate to murder.
I am not gonna take the time to ask them their exact intentions.
I have a family and I will protect them at all costs.
I will not feel bad for stopping a threat to my family.
You wanna break the law you have to be willing to pay the consequences .

But would you chase someone out of your house and finish them on the street?

Can't say for sure...but as someone that's "armchair quarterbacking" this, it raises some questions: was the perp going for a weapon? Did the perp have any property of the homeowner's that the homeowner was attempting to recover? The perp was fleeing, the homeowner caught him, it appears.

There seems to be much more to the story than the news has published, a cop who is in the same district as this event said that there looks to be no wrong doing on the part of the homeowner.

If the police can release info saying that the man was running to his getaway car then they can tell us why it was justifiable.
Tell me why they are now posting my DL# and name on the same thread? I am starting to fear for my own life as well.

I would go and get a description of their car and plate number so that I could give the LEo as much info as needed to catch the CRIMINAL that broke into and threatened my family. Then if the PUNK presented a weapon at that point...you bet I would!

Why are you so against someone protecting their family, themselves or their property?

If you dont feel like its justifiable to shoot someone for breaking into your home then dont but dont give others flack for saying they would when its perfectly legal.
