They're ALL "crazypants", McVeigh and this guy...and the Islamics who do these things, whether they act individually or as a group. But crazy doesn't mean they're not simply following what their religion tells them. Come on, people. The only non-radical Muslims are the ones who don't take the "Holy Koran" seriously. And I imagine there's a lot that don't take it seriously...like the majority of the Islamics who are Muslim simply because their neighbors are the ones who believe in "convert or die".

They aren't nuts. This Pentagon document explains why Islamic terrorists do what they do. Do a little reading around on Islam, and it checks. Don't forget, not long ago Muslims all over the glove were ready to annihilate the western world over a bunch of silly cartoons. Yale University recently dropped those illustrations from a publication out of fear of reprisals if it printed them. President Obama apologized in Cairo to the Muslim world on behalf of the American infidels. Thousands of U.S. citizens, mostly black and urban, have converted to Islam and could heed the call for jihad like the Army doctor at Ft. Hood, the soldier who killed the Army recruiter in Little Rock or that suburban punk from Connecticut who was busted recently. We're in for along winter of discontent with these religious fundamentalists.

I keep a friends FN 5.7 in my safe and it is indeed a powerful round. You can buy 2 kinds of ammo at any gun show for it but the SS197 is the most common. AP rounds are available but very very expensive. We shot the SS197 thru 2 2x4's and sunk deep into a 3rd when testing it out. The controls are very logical and intuitive but confusing to my 1911 style hands. He paid $850 new for some years back but they were running $950-1300 at GRB this weekend. The mags hold 20+1 so capacity is great as well. Kick is actually minimal given the velocity so would make a great CC if it was a little smaller in the butt.

Without proper recognition by Washington of the Ft. Hood shooting as the combat event in the War on Terror that it was, the dead and wounded will not receive their Purple Hearts. Unacceptable.

He was opposed to the war on terror.
The FBI was warned about him six months ago.
His actions prove he would rather kill US soldiers than fight the Taliban.

Ironic that only a few miles from Ft. Hood was the Luby's Cafetria in Killeen were George Hennard killed twenty-three people and injured 20 more in Oct., 1991 in the deadliest mass shooting in American history until Virginia Tech.
He, too, was using a handgun somewhat new to the average person at the time, a Glock 17.

Hello.... A couple of weeks ago I was filling up at a local HEB. Next to me was a Ft. Hood soldier in uniform. I thanked him for his service, we had a good discussion, then went our separate way. As I was driving home, it struck me that the soldier (albeit all soldiers off base in the USA) was unarmed....and a sitting tartget for anyone who harbors hostility toward the USA, and specifically our soldiers.

Would we ever expect our Law Enforcement Officers to traverse about in uniform without being armed and able to defend themselves. How many Bad Guys out there "don't" know that our soldiers are unarmed, and presume they are armed. Will the gas station robber single them out for the first shot, or not?? It is unconscionable that we even allow our soldiers to go about in uniform without being required to be armed. This is not a concealed carry question, just good sense of protecting all uniformed soldiers.

The commanding officer at Ft. Hood called the Fort "their home". Hello....I can't imagine being "at home" and a sitting duck like the victims of this incident. How long would the attack have lasted if every uniformed soldier in the room had been armed? How many fewer would have been killed? I recognize that the "political" winds are such that the "no weapons" policy on base is presently unlikely to change, but come on. Hello.....
