No need for CHL. Just make it a standing order that all active duty personnel will strap on their GI sidearm and OPEN CARRY AT ALL TIMES while on any military base or Federal property of any kind.

Of course, that will never happen because "what if one of those brave young soldiers just suddenly snapped and started shooting?" .... then he/she could be STOPPED before 12 innocent lives were lost!!!

She was the first one to engage and shoot the Major.

EDIT: So far they are saying that she shot at him, but did not hit him.
She fired 4 times and hit him 4 times, she is a hero and a good shot.

funny how the military is so anti-gun. They won't let us carry on their property. nor trust their own people to carry discretely. The terrorist know this and are given free reign to do their dirty work.
We are at war against evil within our own country. Its irresponsible not to allow good people to arm themselves.

What about spouses and civilians who work on base? Exercising your rights guaranteed in the bill of rights should be allowed for everyone. The death and injury toll shows the results of gun control.

Why are they shocked? He did what he said he was going to do. Rise up against the US military being in Iraq/Afghanistan.

The FBI says it wasn't terrorism. I want to know how was this different than 9/11 in motivation? Both mass murders were Muslims massacring Americans because the Muslims don't like US foreign policy. :headscratch

The spin started within minutes of the incident. Before ANY facts came out, I noticed two distinct trends from the news reports:

FOX news would insert a disclaimer in their initial reports along the lines of..."there are no indications this incident is related to terrorism..."

MSNBC would insert a similar disclaimer, but theirs said..."there are no indications this incident is related to repeated deployments or PTSD..."

The media had already made up their minds on the final story and were merely waiting on the appropriate "facts" so they could fill in the holes.

Its terrorism. It may be single nutjob terrorism, but its terrorism
FORT HOOD, Texas – The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post.

The Feds just don't want to admit to Terrorism within the continental US, let alone on our largest military installation. Wouldn't want folks to lose their warm and cuddly feeling.

You're right about that!

Lest we forget about the Oklahoma City bombing and 9-11. Goodness, why are they trying to shelter us, like we can't see the facts for ourselves? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the facts and draw accurate conclusions as to what this is...this guy was a terrorist, even though he was acting alone. He was uttering Muslim rhetoric while he was shooting. They can try and spin this and compartmentalize it to fit some crazy agenda, but it was a terrorist attack with 13 innocent lives lost...period!

Agreed. I really don't understand how someone could just take innocent lives like this. I will pray for the families of those that were lost or wounded in this tragedy. Who would've thought that the lives of American soldiers would have been ended by the hands of another "American" soldier on OUR soil.

Yesterday evening I was as angry as I've ever been since 9/11. (WARNING: MILD PROFANITY IN THE LINKED ARTICLE) I wrote an article titled "Typical Muslim Malik Nadal Hasan Murders Soldiers at Fort Hood" on my blog. I'd welcome comments and opinions from my fellow CHL holders.

I'm amazed at all the people who express shock and surprise that so many were killed and wounded before Hasan was taken down. U.S. domestic military bases are under the ultimate form of federal gun control and outside of firearms training areas nobody is legal to carry a firearm other than law enforcement. See how well it works...

But the bigger issue right here and now is how we allow our enemies to infiltrate and destroy under our self-imposed "tolerance" and political correctness so they can take advantage of unarmed citizens.

God bless our military and law enforcement folks who are in the day-to-day fight.

May justice be served to this murderer and those who should have seen it coming and did nothing about it; as well as those idiot authoritarians past and present who have worked to ensure our troops are defenseless on their own home bases.
