Ammo Shortage Over????

#1

Post by TDDude »

I was at my local Acadamy last week and they had stacks and stacks of ammo. I bought my customary 6 boxes to replenish what I shot at the CHL Forum shindig and walked out. The formerly $6/50 of Monarch 9mm green box (now a reddish color) was still $12/50 but at least there were a few thousand rounds on the shelf. They also had all kinds of other calibers that I'm not interested in. :coolgleamA:

Was I there during some weird time warp or has the ammo shortage/scare abated somewhat?

I can get reasonably priced .45 ACP at any time of the week now, so I guess so. Academy in my area somehow still has trouble keeping their shelves stocked with it though.

I've been seeing more ammo on the shelves at various Wal-Marts and IIRC, the price is about the same as before the election. I've even the occassional WWB .380 acp. These don't last long though.

OTOH, the Sam's Diet Tonic Water that Wal-Mart carries has almost doubled in price since the election! :mad5 What is up with that?

Where are you finding it at besides Academy? I haven't seem any Wally Worlds with it.

I can pretty much find any caliber, however, the cheaper places (wal-mart, academy) still run out frequently. If I go to Gander Mtn, AKA Ripoff Mtn, I can pretty much find anything I want. Only question is do I want to pay the extra for it.

Online prices for most rounds I freqnet have settled to within a few dollars of 2008 levels and much shorter backorder. Definitely appears to be improving.

Except 380, of course, which seems like the ghost of Christmas past. What is the deal?!?

I'll tell you what the deal is. All you guys go out and get your LCPs and then buy up and hoard all of the ammo. Then you go complain that there is none, thus discouraging those of us thinking we might 'need' an LCP from buying one since there is no ammo and what there is available is waaaaayyy too pricey.

Its a dad gumb conspiracy, that's what it is!!! "rlol"

or maybe not, I really don't know. Just trying to get my post count up so I can post in the buy/sell forum. :rolll

Man! I haven't been able to find .380 ammo anywhere. I purchased a LCP a little over a month ago and still haven't been able to break it in. :mad5 :waiting:

Well, I do believe there are a serious number of .380s out there at this point. CHL #s in Texas and elsewhere have risen (both actual and applications). I'd proffer that in general use, a .380 is a high percentage of those, especially by women.

Shooter's Station in Conroe off of Highway 105. I also remember seeing a ".380 - No Limits" sign, but that was about a month ago, not sure if that's still going on.

Not used by the vast majority of my ladies. The women that are coming out to my classes mostly shoot 9mm, then 45 ACP, followed by 380.

Are they actually carrying them though? One gal I know shoots a Beretta for fun but won't carry such. Both her husband and his wallet have tried to convince her otherwise to no avail. :nopity

I think I have 100 rds of .380 in my safe, not counting whats in the pistol itself. It will probably last me a decade. Why hoard something that is NOT fun to shoot?

Warning: I am not hoping for serious responses that will emasculate my lackadaisical attitude towards hoarding.
