For newbies worrying about concealment

Just thought I'd post this photo my father in law took of me. So many CHL newbies are so overly concerned that everyone can tell they're carrying, especially if they're bending, reaching, or otherwise placing their bodies in a strange position in which their cover garment might ride up to reveal their handgun. I thought this might help put your minds at ease.

That's me, completely prone, taking photos of my 10-month old son at a local playground. See any guns? Even any printing?

On my right side, about 3:30, still completely concealed by my cover shirt, is my fully loaded Glock 23 in a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB holster.

I didn't even think about dropping down into this position to get the photo. Do this kind of thing all the time while carrying. Didn't think about it until my father in law - who knows I have CHL but probably had NO IDEA I was carrying that day (he thinks I just leave the gun in the car) - said "maybe you should consider being a combat photographer" ... I thought "oops, did my shirt slide up to reveal my Glock?" .... no, he just saw me laying prone like that and said that's what war photographers do.

Anyway, all you noobs out there you'll get more comfortable with carrying soon enough. Just remember, the vast majority of the population is completely clueless what you have under your shirt.

Karl, I haven't weighed 145 since sophomore year in high school. But I suspect you'll have an easier time concealing, and finding properly sized concealment garments - one or two sizes larger than your normal size. For me, this means XXXL shirts, which can be difficult to find in some stores.

You should be in good shape for concealment. What will you be carrying?

4" S&W 1911. I don't plan on carrying daily yet as I'm still in school. It will be doable, just some work.

Yeah, quite a few of them got into my 10-month-old son's mouth. If there was an Olympic event in which 275-pound over-weight middle-age men had to leap up from a prone position and sprint 50 feet then pull tiny pebbles out of a toddler's mouth ... I'd be an Olympic champion

Yeah, the only time I ever really worry about carrying is when Im wearing a shirt that is short. I try to stay away from those shirts but sometimes all the rest of my laundry is just dirty.

Shortly after getting my plastic in September, I was helping some friends move and was in shorts and a t-shirt all day, bending, lifting, dragging, all their stuff out of one house, into the truck and then into the new house. All the while carrying my M&P 9c IWB.

I was aware due to the extra 2 pounds or so, but If anyone else was aware, they didn't ask or tell. I sort of did this as an experiment to see if I would be "made".

It becomes second nature and really "dressing around the gun" is the best advise I have gotten so far. I now have 2 holsters I carry with, IWB and OWB (w/belt loops), most concealable with the IWB and loose shirts, tucked or not, the OWB is more tricky before the weather started to turn colder and jackets are more of the norm. I probably need a OWB paddle holster now so I can easily remove it at work (federal building ). I'm learning to "accessorize" my outfits and hope to add more "accessories" soon.

At least he didn't stick them up his nose. Now that's almost always worth a trip to the ER. Been there, done that with one of my kids.
