Is it Gun Show Time at Big Town this weekend ??

#1

Post by Reysc »

Need to check my calendar but I believe so.... Anybody coming ? Any of you guys want to meet?? I'm probably showing up for the usual "window shopping" and checking out prices and daydream of finding a "deal of the life time"...

Things I might do.. please feel free to add/substract/modify.. ( I'm actually soliciting thoughts)...
1. COLT 1991A1 COMPACT. Parkerized Finish..
Background..
Halfway, through the break-in stage/period.. Had feeding problems initially but running like a well oiled piece of equipment after maybe the first 100 rounds. Still occassional slide not staying open after last round but have already oredered Tripp Research Cobra mags for it..

Plans...

1. I'm thinking of putting some chrome cosmetic upgrades..extended slide release,safety.. Maybe bushing and spring plug just to break the
monotony of the black finish. I'm hoping there will be somebody at the show that can has the parts and can install ...
OR

2. Trade it for a good reliable carry .45.

I initially thought I can't handle "big recoil guns" but after shooting my two 1911 and this colt.. I found out that I actually like 'em!!
So what ya' think??

I haven't decided if I'm going yet or not. My usual partner in crime is going to be busy. I've got the itch just not sure what to scratch it with. What day are you thinking about going???

I think you have the 1911 virus!
I was taught well; it was my first handgun purchase. ;-)

Me, Cyphur & S&W6946 are headed to the Saturday Morning version, around 9am.

Cyphur is itching to get a Ultra Compact 1911, so I suspect we are there to help him not go nuts.

Should be easy to spot us. Look for two guys trying to hold back what looks to be like the Tasmanian Devil.

I would like to look around for a Personal Defense S/G myself, as my Dad wants one for when he is on the road. I made the mistake of looking at the Benelli M4 S/G, and I was gonna get that til I saw they are $1500. Eek!
Figure a good 870 Rem or 590 Mossie will fit the bill.
Or at least the parts to make one.

Aha!!!
"Cyphur is itching to get a Ultra Compact 1911, so I suspect we are there to help him not go nuts. "

That should be fun!! Looks like we both will be shopping for the same thing except I have a "just cosmetic upgrade option".. I just want my guns to look a little better than me!!

Marshal, I think you may be correct! I'm currently .45 & 1911poor, the Colt Compact that Rey has was my last 1911 I think I'm missing it already.

I've had to make the same promise. We just paid $950.00 to have our son's AC fixed in his car

950 bucks? Dang. Should have told him to roll the windows down. You could buy a lot of gun right there.

And yes, I'll be shopping for a Kimber. Ultra Carry is what I have thoughts about, but if I find a steal of a deal in a similar size I'll jump on it.

I am going to wait a couple months to pick up a shotgun, unless I find something dirt cheap at the show. Then I may have to indulge....

Bill - you should be able to find a Moss 500 for cheap at the show. B&G? Guns has them for $289 every day, and from what I can see, they're a bit overpriced.

Have to miss this one. Will be at the next one on the 26th at Will Rogers.
 I hate missing the gun shows. That is one less ticket sale and one less tear in Al Gore's eye.

Anyone know if they have good prices on shotguns there? I know it's not CHL related, but I'm in need of a new bird gun...

Academy has Remington 870's on sale for $189, which seems like a great price. I just don't like to buy guns there because of the length of time it takes.

Bought my son one of those 870's at Academy the other day. Great little gun for the price. Now he think's that he will be the one getting all the birds this year. Since he is moving up to a 20 ga. from a .410 guess we will find out in a few weeks. Probably take him to Alpine before then to try it out.
