YabuUS wrote:Picked up my new Taurus PT 709 Slim today at Fountain Firearms. Paid $395. for it - that's where the "good" deal stopped. I thought about trading in my Taurus Millennium Pro 745 on the new Slim. Only reason I considered trading in the Pro was due to the bulk of the .45. The Pro is 1.125" wide and a little hard for me to carry in an IWB holster. So I thought if I could get a decent deal I would trade it. I paid a little over $400.00 for the Pro (Can't remember the exact figure). They looked at the Pro and I knew I wasn't going to get a good trade in when they came up with the old line "We don't get many calls for these." And then "This is not the most popular model." So they offered me $125.00 for that practically new Millennium Pro .45. Needless to say I turned that "generous" deal down. The Millennium Pro was a pretty new gun - and what's more I bought it at Fountain Firearms. I had the same experience once trading in a used car. The price of guns must really be inflated. I think I'm going to love this new .9mm Slim, but these guys at Fountain Firearms really play hardball when it comes to dealing.
I've been considering a PT745 (that's the single-stack Pro, right?)... What part of Texas are you in? Maybe we could do a deal.
Took class, paid fees, changed my mind. I want constitutional carry.

ok so I put a clipdraw on my slim and have been carrying it around non-stop for a few days now. I can barley tell its their. This thing rocks in terms of concealability. For me it hits that perfect sweet spot between anytime and any appearal carry and effective caliber. My one and only very minor gripe(so far) is the grip. My pinky basically has nothing to hold onto, so It rides underneathe the clip. Otherwise I am love'n this gun.

Clipdraw.com , took about a week to come in. I got the black universal version. Way simple install. $25 something after tax.

Finally got to hit the range with my slim. Nothing fancy just some federal fmj. I tell you what, I was surprised big time with well this little darlin took the pain. felt recoil was softer than my wifes Bersa .380. Even one handed it was easily maintained. As for accuracy, well I'm not enough of a marksman to comment one way or another but I will say that I does the trick for me. Definately a wise purchase IMO. Now to see if I can find any Hornady Critical Def ammo. Hope she chews that up just as easily.

The 709 could turn out to be the only semi auto by Taurus that will ever have good trade in value. The rest of 'em are like a Dodge pickup truck. You by it, it's yours unless you want to take a bath.
