Quick question...do you have to wait for plastic in hand, before you can legally carry? I am sure this has been asked/discussed many times, however, my initial forum search just didn't turn up what I was looking for.

Yes you do have to wait until you physically have the license in hand before you can start carrying.
Back in the summer that was a problem because it was taking up to 3 weeks after approval and activation before the license was received. That's not the case now. I got my license 2 days after it changed to approved. I think CHLady got her plastic 2 days after activation as well.
So your time is short. Congratulations!
