30.06 Businesses in DFW area?

I didn't notice until after I had bought a vehicle there. I wouldn't have bought from them if I had seen it first. They did follow up with a phone survey and I told them how I felt. The lady had no idea what I was talking about of course, but she said she would write down my comments.

Seriously though, I haven't seen a 30.06 sign at my dealer. I am going to take a closer look though, might be there and just non-compliant aka too small.

Toyota of Plano is compliant in my opinion, just not in your direct sight as you walk in the front door. I went in and out probably 6 or 8 times before I noticed. The entrance had glass doors, and then a glass panel about as wide or wider than the width of the door on each side of the doors. The 30.06 was on the right glass panel in red lettering at waist high. Very hard to notice unless you are extremely observant. I actually noticed while I was inside the store looking outside.

No, it's not.

There is nothing in the law that forbids them from posting, but PC 30.06 can no longer be used against a CHL who carries there.

Why is it that city owned property can't be posted?

The entire reasoning behind 30.06 is to protect private property rights (to not allow guns, if the property owner so chooses). Simultaneously, the big signage required to comply with 30.06 is meant to protect CHLs, so that they don't unknowingly commit criminal trespass by passing an unseen sign.

Most hospitals (and all churches) are privately owned, but carry there was originally prohibited, no matter what the opinion of the owners. The legislature corrected this; it's still an offense to carry in a hospital or church, but only if posted in accordance with 30.06.

Now, as for city owned property... there is no private property right involved. You are the owner, and are entitled to equal say in the matter. Not to mention, going all the way back to the Texas constitution, only the state, not counties or cities, may regulate carrying firearms.

So, cities posting 30.06 notices was always challengeable. The legislature eliminated the question of anyone being a test case, by making such notice invalid for government buildings.

Next step... recognize that private schools should be entitled to the same rights as churches and private hospitals. After that, give the same recognition to private bars.

That must be a relatively new development. I was there a couple of years ago and there was no sign at all as I recall, let alone a compliant 30.06 sign.

There is another company I noticed in Grand Prairie called API Ketema that has a 30.06 posted at the entrance to their parking lot. Are we really going to do the map thing? It would be an excellent tool if people really supported the idea.

not that it will affect most people here, But Texas Instruments is posted at it's main campus (off 75 and 635 Dallas) at all entrances to the property. I'm not sure about the other branches as i haven't been to them lately.

They are also known to do car searches, and they have a no guns policy...

Has anybody considered contacting them to see if they'll take it down? Maybe if they knew that they had the potential for losing customers, they would.

Whole Earth Provision Co. at Mockingbird and 75 in Dallas has the proper 30.06 posted. Not that I'd expect anything less from a store run by a bunch of hippies...
