need to find a GOOD GUNSMITH in Conroe, Spring area

#1

Post by roscoe46 »

This is my 1st. post here & this is a good looking forum here; glad to
see there's a lot of Texans here.
Anyway, on to business at hand. i need to find a good 'smith ,
preferrably someone around Conroe or Spring. The entire area
around Houston would be OK also if this fails.
My carry piece is an Armscor 1911 Govt clone. It's a very good
piece that I've had ZERO problems with. I'm wanting to have it
bobtailed with an Ed Brown bobtail kit. I recently saw & handled one
at recent gunshow & really liked the way it felt & looked.
I've seen on other forums that some 'smiths are kinda acting like
primadonnas when it comes to working on guns like & similar to mine.
I don't mind paying a decent price for good work, but I don't want to
pay for someone's attitude or inflated ego.
any help or info would be appreciated.

thanks,
roscoe46

Don't know any in Conroe or Spring, but these folks are in the general Houston area and all do very good work.

Too far North here for me to know any down South. Some of the Southerners will jump in before the day is done. Welcome aboard. You are right. This is a great forum. Welcome.

Try giving Derrick at Sportsman Guns and Ammo in Conroe. I can't say about the bobtail job, but he has worked on my Springfield 1911 and done a good job.

You can reach him at Sportsman Guns and Ammo. If he isn't available leave a message for him. I'll call him and tell him to expect a call about a Sig.
