Re: Banks
Wearing hats inside is impolite, at least that was how I was raised. But I wonder what they would think of these glasses that get dark in the sunlite. I cant read without mine on.

If they don't want concealed handguns in the financial institution, do what i did. (Legally) sling an AR over your shoulder and go inside to have a talk with management and the police.

Re: Banks
It worked out very well. It took only about an hour of discussion with management and the police and my (former) bank took down the 30.06 sign.dicion wrote:Harley rider 55 wrote:If they don't want concealed handguns in the financial institution, do what i did. Re: Banks
I am getting my CHL precisely because I was in my bank when it was robbed by two masked gloved hooded men.
Fortunately they were professionals, this was not there first bank robbery. They even wore scarves to cover their necks. All the loose second set of clothes they were wearing were discarded right after they left,as was the dye packets and the radio transmitter.
It kinda changes your view of life.
Oh and if your in a bank and two men run in, its not that there in a hurry to make a deposit. The bank is being robbed. Its funny how your mind thinks when your in a situation like this.
I have thought about it and if I had been carrying then, I would have put my hands up just like they demanded. My concern then as now, what would I have happened, if things had gone badly during the robbery. Thus my decision to begin to carry.

Wow Philip964.
That's an amazing story. Thanks for posting it.
I think you handled it well as you are here to tell us about it.
If you don't mind me asking, how did others (customers and employees) handle it?

Probably more because their 'it can never happen to me, I live in a magical fairy-happy-land' life-view was being shattered, and less because of the actual threat.
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

The employees behind the counter were the ones under the most stress as they were having the guns pointed at them and the robbers were yelling demands such as "put the money in the bags faster faster"
I was the only customer in the bank at the time. All the employees got therapy and several paid days off. The bank called me once to see if I was "Ok" I sensed they didn't want to make a big deal of it with me for fear I would sue or something.
The only part of the robbery where I felt so hopeless was when the robbers ran into the back of the bank, where the employee areas were and women began screaming. I could not see what was going on and only heard the screams. My mind naturally made it much worse than it was. They had ran that way as there was a back door for their getaway.
Afterwards the FBI came and interviewed everyone. I could tell the agent did this a lot as it was very matter of fact. I asked if he did this often, he said it was the third time this day. I could kind of tell, that being an FBI agent was not as exciting as maybe you had been lead to believe. Of course it didn't help that probably all of us didn't correctly remember the color of jackets of the perps.

Where did you get this info from? Also, is that a defense to ANY 30.06 location, or just for 51% locations?dicion wrote:thorkyl:
After September first, this one will change:
7 - 51% rule, if it smells like a bar then its a bar
to
7 - 51% rule, if it is a 51% location AND has a proper 51% sign at each entrance to the premises.
As of Sept 1st, not having a sign posted at EACH entrance to the premises is a defense to prosecution.
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."

Look at the dates on the posts, these are old.sjfcontrol wrote:Where did you get this info from? Also, is that a defense to ANY 30.06 location, or just for 51% locations?dicion wrote:thorkyl:

And to correctly sum it up, the only change that was made was before September 1, 2009, if a location was 51% and didn't have the sign posted, you were still guilty. After September 1, 2009, if the 51% location doesn't have the 51% sign posted, you can still be arrested and charged, but you know have a defense to prosecution written in the law since there was no visible sign posted.
It does not affect 30.06 at all.

But not nearly as bad as some instances. On another forum I frequent (not nearly as much traffic as this one), one new member has, within the past month, "resurrected" threads from 2001-2005.bdickens wrote:Thread Necromancy.
