Suarez Advanced AK in Prescott AZ

#1

Post by Bill »

Heading there in two weeks for business Thursday and Friday, so I decided to stay over till Sunday night and take Gabe's AK class. He is one of the most noted instructors when it comes to the AK. I have a Yugo underfolder that I will be flying in along with my Glock. I have never flown with my weapons so I went and bought a lockable hard case and will have to be somewhat selective in my gear. I will not be taking 20mags for each weapon, nor will I carry any ammo, I bought it from ammotogo and had it delivered there.

It will be nice to get away from the big city and head to the Mountains

I will be interested to hear your report after you are done. I want to go to one of his AK classes, but have budgetary restrictions at the moment.

Flying with your guns should be simple, especially since you are not taking ammo. Just to make sure you are up to snuff, check both the TSA gun policy AND the airline policy. Airline policy tends to be more restrictive than TSA, but those restrictions primarily relate to ammo, and you don't have that problem. I have flown my guns numerous times, most recently yesterday, and have not had any problems. A few oddities, but no problems.

Having read up on Suarez's classes, 20 mags per gun is probably overkill -- but not by much. Having been thru other firearms courses, I would take as many as possible, at least a half-dozen per gun. It just makes it easier if you don't have to constantly be loading magazines with ammo.

Good luck and have fun, and report back!
