I notified Ft. Worth Zoo that I had paid for my tickets, gone inside, seen their sign, and returned and refunded the tickets and left due to their signage and that I would not return, or my family, or any friends I could influence.

I never received a reply.

This is the sign in question. It is about 75' from the ticket booths and about 25' from the actual gate to enter the park. You can see it from the gate but can't read it.

Probably because the sign is arguably not proper.

Another possibility.
chamberc wrote:I agree wholeheartedly, and have carried there because 1) I don't think they're a school, and 2) they can't legally post a 30.06.

I won't be breaking the law since that sign is not posted in accordance with the law. I'll take my chances that my conceallment setup will not fail me.

What about it is not legal? I apologize if it's the text, but if you're referring to the location we've already been over this in other threads. It does not have to be at all entrances or even at an entrance. It only has to be in a conspicuous place for all to see. It looks like this sign meets these requirements.

30.06(c)(3)(B)
i. includes the language described by Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish;
ii. appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; and
iii. is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

The land is owned by the City of Fort Worth.
It does not appear to be a school, as their public relations person claims.

Therefore, it's posted illegally.

That would require you to be involved in a shooting or draw your weapon. You can not do that for a "test case", which would make you then in violation of the law. You'd be committing failure to conceal.

To test the validity of the sign, and see if it is prosecutable? I don't think so. What's your thinking on that? Just walking into and through the zoo is committing an offense...while you are carrying concealed, of course.

Well, this just bites! They've created a situation that is probably defensible, but would cost someone $$$$$ to prove them wrong. :grumble

BINGO !! You win the prize !! :thewave :party: :chldancing Exactly my point C-dub. Tell you what....when I win the Mega-Millions Lottery tonight, I'll be glad to spend $20,000 or more(in lawyer fees & court costs), just to get them to take down that silly, invalid sign. Deal? ;-)
