so which gun to carry, P232 or G33? More than likely the G33 most of the time.
Grandfather gave me a colt cobra circa 1968 the other day, brand new with box, would be a great carry gun, but the cylinder has not even been cycled. Very tempted to carry it though.
Good luck to everyone that is still patiently or not so patiently waiting. :txflag:
Nooooooooo! Don't you dare! You've got a valuable collector's item there buddy! Besides, you already have 2 fantastic carry guns already! Please don't devalue the worth of that gun by shooting it.

Note: I said that with a bit of friendly sarcasm, but not much! That old Colt IS valuable, And it's yours to do what you want with it. If you DO shoot it, know that you are shooting a piece of history. I don't think they make those anymore, especially not in that serial number range! :tiphat:

I cleaned it today, I figure it needed a coat of oil from not being oiled for the past 40 years. Very cool gun, and although it would be cool, stylish and a good way to remember my grandfather daily to use a that gun as a CHL, it will be a safe queen. God forbid me every having to drawn down and then I get it taken as evidence, or stolen from my car when a 30.06 or 51 is posted.

So safe queen it is, and it sure is pretty with a new coat of oil.
Course 5/2
Mailed packet 5/4
Application Processing 6/10
After reprints and all FINALLY 8/5 Plastic!

I do not have a photo host but it looks like this, except has tags/box and is brand spanking new. As far as value goes, a local shop said about 750 give or take (they know I am not getting rid of it). When I cleaned it today it had some sticker goo from an old price tag still on it...too funny.

I also got a 'box' of rifles that I have yet to go through. I know there is a 303 in it from the ammo I opened. What else, who knows? Not going to open them till I have more time to clean guns, as they have not been opened since 68 or so (before I was born).

Ohmygosh neiltus! That's straight out of an Indiana Jones movie! I admire your self-discipline and control of not opening the box of rifles, but come on! Don't keep us in suspense! :bigear:

Should I start calling you Indy? :smilelol5:

Well, it's out in the garage under a lot of other boxes that I need to go through first. Garage is a fall project in this weather.

Mine is just dead. How is it that only weeds seem to grow with no rain? :headscratch

I just saw a sign on 518 close to Kemah for CHL classes! I have never noticed that before I guess that they do the shooting portion at Clear Lake Gun Range?

neiltus....If I had a box of rifles in the garage, I would be knee deep in it in about 2 secs. I would have a project for the rest of the week and not keep checking the DPS site!!

I have a TV, a DVD player, a 6' toolbox, lawn implements and an '04 Road King in my garage, but instead of textbooks on the table, I would be sorting/examining/cleaning rifles..........Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the fridge full of beverages, the freezer full of food, and the ceiling fan over my head....Send those rifles on around....I'll be more than happy to examine them......

Seriously, though, I'm sure you'll be spending many pleasant hours going through them all. :tiphat:

Life is like an unopened box of rifles...you never know what you're going to get......

In addition to it being at the bottom of a big ole pile of boxes that I just moved in (figure the bottom is the safest place). I will just say I have about a weeks worth of nosey 'relatives' whom might question why I received said box and not them.

I know why I received it. Because most of the other relatives don't give a crap about guns, or other relatives, and would probably open it at the closest pawn shop. Don't get me started on them. Every (most every) family has them.

I am just content enough with my present from the state.
